Is this a foul?

1. Im 1v1 against the keeper.

2. I shoot btw his legs, It hits his knee and starts rolling towards the goal.

3. Both of us make a dash for the ball and we reach at the same time shoulder to shoulder.

4. I saw even though i would get to the ball before he will still be able to hold it.

5. He dove towards the ball and that gave me time to reach a milli sec before him.

6. When he was in mid air, i aligned my self in a position in front of him so that he couldnt reach the ball and i tapped it into the net.

7. A foul was given and we lost that game 1-0. Was it a foul?

What i think -

1. It was a 50-50.
2. Ball was a place where both had equal chances.
3. I reached the ball a second before him.
4. I tapped the ball before he fell to ground and appealed.

What the ref said-

1. He is the GK.
2. It was clear obstruction.

What do you think?

What difficulty were you playing on?

Sounds like that's enough of a reason to call obstruction.

If you made contact with the ball before he got to it then I don't think it was a foul.

Yes, But it was a 50-50. the ball was equally far from both of us.
and i arguably reached before him, Doesnt that make a difference?

It's a tough call. I think we would have to actually see the footage to judge. I think if you managed to shield the ball and reached it first the play should have not been stopped.

I'm not exactly sure what the rules are in the league you play in.

I was a GK in the past and to be honest if you had done this, I would have no problem with there being no call. As long as your obstruction didn't stop him from reaching the ball first, it sounds like you had the extra step on the keep.

This. But it was very marginal.. I dont think the ref would have got a clear view of it too .. considering both jumped at a rolling ball in front of goal. He was behind us..

My obstruction did stop him, But i was arguably/actually ahead of him. Im allowed to do that if im ahead of a player or overtake him? Aint i?

Sorry, there was a bit of a misunderstanding. I don't think your "obstruction" caused the keeper to not reach the ball, at least not the way you interpreted it.
Had I been the ref I would have let the play continue, I think everything you did was within the rules of the game.

He didnt and we lost 1-0..

I just think the refs sometimes make calls out of their ass, couple weeks back we were playing a game and it was a corner and one of our guys head the ball towards the net and the goalie had no chance, one of their guys out of no where stops it with his hand and goes over the bar and the ref calls for another corner, lol we were shocked and 2 of our guys got yellow cards for calling the ref blind.

In the second half we scored 2 goals and won 3-2.

Once a ref overruled his decision after we over powered him .. LOL. XD
