Diego Maradona Supporting Napoli Against Manchester City
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis believes Diego Maradona will be supporting his side over Manchester City in Wednesday’s Champions League Group A clash – despite his son-in-law Sergio Aguero playing for the English club.
The two teams clash at the Etihad in what will be a family affair for the Al Wasl coach who has strong ties there – Aguero is married to Maradona’s daughter.
Maradona had an illustrious career with Napoli, helping them win their first Scudetto in 1987 and De Laurentiis believes the Argentina legend will be quietly supporting the Italians.
“Maradona will certainly be supporting Napoli as deep down inside he still feels like being one of us,” De Laurentiis told Il Corriere dello Sport.
Speaking of the game, he said: “I will be a great experience for us and we have to understand what will happen so we can strengthen in future.”
The game begins at 20:45 (CET) and it has been rumoured England coach Fabio Capello will be watching from the stands.

This match will be good for Napoli to see where they are compared to one of the best in Europe, if they can achieve a respectable result it will go a long way to give the players confidence in the other group games.

I've always liked Napoli even before they made it to the Champions League. Really hope they do well.
