Batigol <3
It proves that for Argentina Messi sucks (by his lofty standards), but for Barcelona he is the best in the world

He is the best, he just needs another Riquelme

To me, Batigol was the best CF i have ever seen in my lifetime... yes, better than R9. Incredibly loyal to his club too.

Your post proves that you don't watch Argentina if you think that messi sucks for them just because his goal scoring record..
Messi is a playmaker for argentina, which is why almost all scored by argentina is created by messi..

Messi is supposedly the worlds best player who can't perform for his country when they need him most.
Riquelme was a playmaker who scored goals and vital ones too and help his team in competitive matches.
We are talking about "the best player in the world" and according to alot of Barcelona fans "the best player ever" who can't get it done on the world stage.
People need a dose of reality ffs.

the violence and accuracy of Bati's shots was awe-inspiring.

Batitusta barely needed any back lift to pull some of the net busters he used to do, man really was an amazing striker. He also had really nice hair.
As for Messi, depending on how you view his current role with Argentina, 17 in 61 can either be really good for a playmaker or kinda underachieving for a forward. Personally, Argentina would still choke come World Cup so all this is just silly talk really...

I dont know lol.......
All i know is that he's been the playmaker since Riquelme was kicked out and played right wing before that( at that stage he did'nt even have a great scoring record at club level)
Did you ever see Batistuta, Crespo or Kempes drop to the half way line to pick up the ball?

He does that in Barcelona and scores 50+ goals...That's like one of his most recognizable things

It's different at Barca completely different for one he brings defenders with him because he is playing as a fake 9 has two wide players with amazing movement and two midfielders in world playmaking for him( arguably)
At Argentina he is playing in AM position so when he drops deep the defenders are not troubled at all, no playmakers in midfield or wide players stretching the defence for him to exploit....
Take Xavi, Iniesta, Villa and Pedro out of Barca and see what happens not to say Messi is'nt the best in the world because he is but playing as a main playmaker he isnt Argentina should move him up the pitch and play Pastore as the AM and Banega as DLP and Mascherano as DM.....
All iam going to say on the matter just feel its a bit silly to compare 9's( in the most part) to Messi who is playing as a 10 which is shown by the fact all of Argentina's attacks go through him....

Re: Argentine top 10 goalscorers compared to Messi
Some LOL worthy stuff here.
Messi being accused of failing Argentina when it matters most and then Riquelme used as an example of someone who has done it better.
Because he wasnt totally useless in the Copa 07 final vs Brazil when they neded him most.
And anyone who considered Messi's role in dropping deep for Barca and dropping deep for Argentina the same shouldnt be commenting on this thread, let alone starting it.

Re: Argentine top 10 goalscorers compared to Messi
On a much lesser note, what exactly was Passarella's position when he was playing because that really isn't a flattering record for a striker if he was one. He does have a World Cup but still...
