Cant shake this off my mind. its about the summer signings, we should have brought different players.

We bought Contrao / Antilop cuz they can play as CM, RB, LB.

I still beleave we should have brought Mvila, he is the next Superstar DM. He is totally suited to us like. Him and sahin would have been the future.

It would have been Pepe - Alonso - Mvila - Sahin - Khedira - Granero. We can easily play 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3 with this midfeild.

We can still buy him, but we are not showing any intent.

As for defence we should have brought either Jerome boating or Chris Smalling.

Both are young, FAST and tall CB's, like varane. In laliga/barca, only fast CB's survive. These two are soo big yet soo fast its amazing. we missed both of them. it would also have been a product for future.

Both of them Can play as LB, CB and RB. would cover all three positions and we can offload albiol too.

not everyone would agree with me about this but i just wanted to know, are you guys are totally satisfied with the transfers.

Answer to question - yes. We just need Sahin and Altintop healthy and contributing. Plus arrival of Neymar. Biggest plus from last year is improved chemistry (partially from stability). Look for us to challenge Barca this year .. and next year almost no changes (Kaka and Albiol gone) = even more team stability and improved chemistry. Next year we overtake Barca.

ps we don't need DMs. Our next MFs will be Sarabia and Canales.

Altintop was completely unnecessary and won't be more useful than Gago or Granero, but Coentrao/Varane/Sahin were perfect signings.

I wanted a CM but M'vila? as great as he is going to be, all around players are more interesting to have, not a DM.

and we bought Varane, what's the complaining about?

m'vila- ya he would have been a great buy but we decided to go after sahin (no complaints there)

boateng- decent player but i dont think la liga would suit him. also i highly doubt he would have chosen madrid over bayern where he gets guaranteed playing time and lots of exposure for the german national team

smalling- great player but no way in hell would saf sell. just no way.

we got coentrao- pricy but a fantastic utility player. sahin- young creative cm german player of the year last year enough said. varane- kid is a stud future world class. altintop- backup callejon- pedro leon replacement.

i think we did alright. if there was a WC right back on the market i would have wanted madrid to be all over it but there wasnt. life goes on.

its about the other 2, contrao and antilop. i would reallly have perfered we signed mvila and smalling/boating.

it would have suited us better, cheaper and better future talent.

Sahin>>>M'Villa
What do you want with Smalling or Boateng when we have Varane? Very Happy Did you even watch him once? He doesn't lose 1 on 1s, at least I didn't see him lose any. I hope he plays more often instead of Carvalho and Ramos goes into CB position Very Happy

Sahin and M'Vila don't even play the same position. One a ball recovery specialist from sideline to sideline who then distributes forward while the other is a playmaking mid. I'd actually play Sahin with M'Vila.

M'Vila>Khedira though. There's no doubt there. The reason for this is that Khedira doesn't have an area he excels at. He's pretty good at everything. A Granero ++ to me. M'Vila, on the other hand, dominates the defense midfield duties and then brings some offensive skills to the table.

We have enough "Ball recovering specialists" on the team.

when it comes down to it I prefer the players who understand how to build play than destroy someone else's.

exactly, and if you can get them to press for the ball as well, then it's worth it.

M'Vila is going to Man U anyhow... that's where he wants to go and SAF wants him. So it's a non-issue for Madrid.

Lol if the lionel kid turns out to be as good as Messi , I will always think of this thread.

We are set at CB with Ramos , Pepe , Carvalho and Varane.United wasn't selling Smalling anyway and Boateng? I'm not sold on him . Like his athleticisim but it's not like he's the finished product so we decided to buy someone with an insane ceiling in Varane instead.

who said anything about sahin.

its about contrao and antilop, one is brough to be played as CM and the other as CM/RB.

We could had much more specialised and better players in that positions, players that could had bigger role. Mvila for example.

The smailling / boating is also the same, varane is just too young, you cant just throw him infront of big teams, he is just a kid.

we need a better, more experience 3rd cb with a role to lead the line in the future. that role is albiol's role. but there is no way i would trust albiol even against lower table of laliga teams.

Its impossible to promote transfer targets as "Should have bought" if the club did not identify them as targets in the first place... We can say Should have about players we missed out on for e.g. Kun, but something tells me that during the transfer window and probably up until the Arsenal thrashing, Perez and/or Zizou didnt know who the *F* Smalling is. (Although I wouldn't say Mou, because if someone is good, they are on Mou's radar for sure Laughing )

Having said that, I do feel Smalling is going to be a very special player one day, and if at all possible I would like that we coax him into a move to Real Madrid.. but good Englishman are hard to find, I mean we haven't had a good one since Steve Mc Manaman...

You can't really target English young stars playing in the EPL because there's a 99.9% chance of them wanting to stay in the EPL... especially the ones that are at clubs like Man U.

You only get a shot at either a) overlooked players or b) English stars that are looking for a new challenge.

It's very, very difficult. Italian players in Serie A are similar.

I'm not saying that we should ignore young English and Italian players in the EPL and Serie A... but our focus is not and should not be there. Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Portugal, Brazil, Argentina, etc. are much better targets because going abroad is welcomed with those players.

There's a difference between feeder leagues and elite leagues.

Agree with the evaluation.. I mean look at someone from this transfer window, Joe Cole for instance, that did not really give the reaction that: Oh wow, that should interesting! but rather: What on earth is Joe doing? You are 100% right Sports, but to me it is sad that English and Especially Italian players do not spread themselves around a lot more.

I have Italian heritage and I support my beloved Azzurri, so I would love to see some more Italians at Real Madrid, but that would be a very rare occurrence. A lot of people ask me then why don't you just support an Italian club, but I feel that being South African as well should not pre-determine the club I choose to support. For some people, choosing a club is simple, its in their heritage, e.g. if you were born in Manchester, odds on you're going to support either United or City.

For me, South African football is largely rubbish. My City's only professional club is Bay United and they are bankrupt and struggling in the 2nd division.

Therefore I chose Real Madrid because their style of play just appealed to me. Wow I've gone off on such a tangent, I forgot the point I was trying to make.

Oh yeah, anyways, I would like to see more Italian players at Real Madrid in the future, but as you outlined, that is not really possible.

we shouldnt just give up on players before even trying to get them.

smalling reminds of young pepe, but he is much more calmer then him. he is taller and probably faster then him. how can u not make him your target knowing that you need super fast CB to stop players like messi etc.

You definately have not seen pepe run at full stride. Not even lying, I wouldnt be surprised if he could catch up to CR. Hes insanely fast, I remember him making a run a couple years back from defence to attack and the speed he put into that run just kept it engraved in my mind

regardless, ive seen alot of Smalling and hes very reckless. Varane was a better choice imo

Varane was Zidane' choice Laughing and from what i saw in his pre season participations i can say that he's gonna be the defence leader by the time, he has evrything to succeed and i still remember his tackle againt Chivas affraid . He will take Carvalho' place and atm he's the first option on the bench
