I don't get the Abate hat, even if the guy is not as great as Milan fans say he is. He obviously is good and improving. Also, even if Italy is breaking records, it is an insignificant record that its breaking.
Don't get me wrong, I am supporting Italy all the way, but I question what this team can do in a real competition. I think Prandelli wants to use the Euro as a platform to build for the 2014 WC, something Donadoni should have done in the 08 Euro.
Back to Abate, I think he Prandelli should call on him just to send a message to all players that if you aork on yourself and improve, you get a chance. Right now, Prandelli is frankly sending a bad message.
@Scicca and Luca; even if you guys don't think Abate is the top Italian RB, you can't argue that he is not top 3.

Italy have looked solid at the back and, as Greece have shown, a good defense can win you a tournament. Italy are never one to write off in the Euros.

It is good that our defense is getting back to its traditional performance level. They are young kids, but they will get better and Chiellini being the old man at 27 will be a great teacher.

A good leader that for sure! Wiggles, Inter's Ranocchia is the next big thing! Mark my words, the man is a monster!
FORZA RANOCCHIA!

Cannavaro Nesta Materazzi were a thousand times better than Chiellini Ranocchia Bonucci and the only one getting better is Ranocchia so Im still a bit worried for the time being.

I'm sorry Zarola, how can you even debate this now. Fine, we can say this about Chiellini... but Ranocchia and Bonucci have 10 years to prove their worth, fine most probably they WONT be as good however we can't say that now and it is none sense to compare them currently as you just can't. They claim Ranocchia might be the next Nesta, some say Chiellini will in fact be a bigger player than Canavaro(which is highly doubtful), you got the likes of Santon who will always grow into being a great fullbacl one day.

The Azzurri are practically in Euro 2012 thanks to 19 points in seven games, a new record in European or World Cup qualifying.
Well still kinda meh if you look at Holland.
Or Germany

My apologies I thought they were younger than our current defenders in 2002 but they were all a couple of years older so yeah they do have time to reach that level still... except for chiellini 27 vs cannavaro 28 but chiellini can still shine this euro and wc.

During 2006, Cannavaro was 32 years old.
