Good buy. Hopefully he can revive his career in England.
He's gonna be playing LB? He's naturally a RB.

Re: Newcastle sign Santon
It's completed now not just medical its done.....
5 year deal now sign the bleeding CF along with the CB that will join in the morning and ill be happy....
Would have liked another full back to join Santon as Simpson and R.Taylor(bar his free kicks) are crap.....
But beggers cant be choosers....
Sepi he's going to play LB unfortunatly Simpshit will play at RB

Re: Newcastle sign Santon
An exciting buy in the sense it's not just a Premier League player switching to another PL club. I hope he comes good for Newcastle!
(But how long is it going to be that he starts longing for Italy)

Re: Newcastle sign Santon
Newcastle have really made some excellent signings in the last 2-3 windows.
Ben Arfa, Cabaye, Santon, Tiote. Jury's still out on Obertan, Ba and Marveaux.
Not sure Pardew's the right man to take them to the next level though.
What are your targets (realistically) for this season Mole?

Our target's probably hinge on what striker we sign......
I think Pardew's a bit underrated tbh, we sold our 4 of our best players and he's kept the dressing room together fantastically and is trying to play a more passing style this year.....
Will probably line up like this......
Krul
R.Taylor S.Taylor Coloccini Santon
Cabaye Tiote
Obertan Ben Arfa Gutierrez
NEW CF
R.Taylor S.Taylor Coloccini Santon
Cabaye Tiote
Obertan Ben Arfa Gutierrez
NEW CF
As for the targets i think we can finish 8th( lets face it outside of the top 6 there is a group of teams... Everton, West Brom, Sunderland, Stoke, Villa and ourselfs and dont see much between the lot of them we could quite easily finish 1st or 2nd in the little group....
I'd also like to see a decent cup run in both competitions its been too long.....
If there's anything i like about the Ashley regime its the signings we dont buy overpaid over the hill primadonna's anymore but instead buy young talented players with re-sale value....
As for the rest of the window it seem's we will sign a CF and a CB i would like a RB aswell or LB because Simpson and R.Taylor(bar his freekicks) are crap.
But as i said earlier beggers cant be choosers....
We were interested in Macheda if all the other options fell down its basically a last resort.....
But i saw this earlier and i calmed down

It was last season was'nt it?
You lost there, Arsenal lost there, Chelsea only got a draw, United only got a draw, City won but they were extremely lucky...

Yeah, I'm just hoping (and believing) that this much altered NUFC team can do the same
Apart from getting destroyed by Liverpool, obviously.

Sunderland fans are furious at Gyan...he looks very uninterested for them this season so far. Sess their best player by far

Great post mate. Still don't get your obsession with Jonas mind, think Marveaux is a better player.
Oh and I really wanted to ask you about Obertan. I know you didn't rate him initially but from the MOTD highlights I've seen he's looked very good.

Jonas has got those very quick feet though. Must've been fouled against Sunderland four or five times just with a quick change of direction while his marker closed on him.

I am not obsessed with Jonas its just he provides alot more defensive cover than Marveaux( from what i seen atm) and Santon is known for raiding up the wing so its more a tactical decision more than anything....
As for Obertan i did'nt rate him yes, but from what i seen looks very promising he is very quick, strong and very good dribbler and seems to know when to pass and when to dribble majority of the time.
So iam happy with him probably just not Utd quality but for us he's more than good enough a marked improvement on Wayne" I am going to run past everyone and smash it in the top corner" Routledge
Errr.... Wayne no your going to run into the first player you see

Re: Newcastle sign Santon
I haven't seen enough of Marveaux in the premier league to tell whether he's going to be anything more than a backup to Jonas. Part of his problem is that he's always injured. He hasn't been fit long enough to get in good form.
As for Jonas, I believe he's an often underrated winger. He works hard in attack and defense, and his pacy runs tend to open up opportunities for other players to get into the box.
