Newcastle sign Romain Amalfitano
So, who the heck is this guy? 22-yo Reims midfielder, but, like, who?

Judging by Newcastle's shrewd transfers thus far, the next Paul Scholes

Re: Newcastle sign Romain Amalfitano
He's Roman Amalfitano's little brother... the AM for Marseille.
Had a brilliant season fro Reims and was one of the keys that got them promoted. Little guy. Good technique.
Never saw him play... but he was being talked about more and more as the year went forward.
Good prospect.

Can't be the next Zidane because Mole finds Zidane overrated

You know we have signed more players than Ba and Cisse
In any case i know very little about him apart from that he's been likened to Arteta and god knows we need someone like him....
Been signed as Guthries replacement and no Che this isnt a friend of somebody already at the club...... this was sorted months ago and for some reason the club decided till now to reveal it.

Re: Newcastle sign Romain Amalfitano
Ligue 2 expert Steve Wyss said the following when asked about the player:
“As the younger brother of OM’s Morgan, you can see that football class clearly runs in the family. In many ways, he is similar to his brother in that he’s a superb creative player, although perhaps not quite as versatile. He preferred position is sitting in the AMID hole behind the strikers, although he is also capable of playing a more deep lying playmaker role.
He is light on his feet and you can tell he has a high technique and skill level. Not so much of a goalscorer, or even someone who assists that often. His main strength is his excellent pass ability and vision is excellent.”
Starting to see why he's been likened to Arteta now, iam excited.
A type of player we have sorely lacked for a very long time.

A correct type, sure, but is he of enough quality? If he is, this is a brilliant find, if he isn't, well, there's always the January window..

Only one way to find out and quite frankly considering our work in the transfer window since Graham Carr come to the club and working with Pardew in tandem has been fantastic i have no reason to be anything other than optimistic.

Fair enough.
I'm just thinking it's quite a leap from Reims to BPL's 5th best club.

That could still happen the two are not intertwined or linked theres nothing that signing Amalfitano will do to stop us signing Corgnet.
If we want to sign him and the finances are right for both clubs and player it will still happen, signing Amalfitano doesnt effect Corgnet in anyway.
Also Art i agree it is a big jump, i believe in the club atm though and think it will prove fruitful move for both club and player.

Re: Newcastle sign Romain Amalfitano
We need a lot of Depth we are weak in all areas of the pitch and especially with Europa League aswell next season.....
We have a good first team outside a couple of places but the depth is very poor indeed and that needs to be rectified and will be....
When this deal was done a few months ago it was mooted that both Corgnet and Amalfitano would sign whether they do or not is another matter entirely.
But i wouldnt be suprised if both do sign and i dont feel signing Amalfitano ends the pursuit of Corgnet at all.

Yes because Tiote, Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Jonas, Santon, Colo, Krul have all performed above thier level for 2 months and suddenly dipped......
Besides Ba is the only one who did that and he was fantastic between September and February.... not his fault he tired out and was played out of position
Ignorance is really bliss
