We won't go for Benzema if we get Gervinho and Chamerlain in. Not even to play as a left winger. I just can't see it happening.

Chamberlain and gervinho? they both fit, Chamerlain add to the depth and Gervinho makes a serious case for a staring spot ahead of Walcott down the lne.
With Cesc gone you will need a superstar signing, Benzema can become the face of arsenal. and with the timely injuries of RvP, all his well. Benzema doesnt play as a traditional winger but like an inside left, and he tracks back a lot. Many in france were hoping they had another Trezeguet, so that Benzema could play on the left. He has a problem with finishing sometimes, he can miss siters.
edit: dont get on my case again, i do consider Cesc gone this time, but that's my bet for the summer.

Guys, in Spur's defence, I do actually recall Redknapp coming out and declaring his admiration for Samba. The fact that Samba came out and said that he could've been an Arsenal defender in January leads me to believe that both AW and Redknapp both registered an interest round about the same time. I don't see him going to spuds unless they offer him more money and guarantee him a starting berth!

Its funny how every player Arsenal is interested in, Man city and Spuds want that player right away.SUPERCARTTS wrote:Guys, in Spur's defence, I do actually recall Redknapp coming out and declaring his admiration for Samba. Barca Set to Offer Youngsters In Fabregas Bid
Meanwhile, the Daily Mirror speculates once again that Fabregas is bound for Barcelona and that the Spanish side will offer Arsenal some of their promising youngsters in part-exchange.
The European champions value Fabregas at £35 million, according to the Mirror, but they are aware that is some way short of Arsenal’s own £50 million valuation. Coach Pep Guardiola is set to offer midfielder Thiago Alcantara – currently in Denmark with Spain’s Under- 21 side and known to be admired by Arsene Wenger – defender Martin Montoya or Mexican midfielder Jonathan Dos Santos.
Fabregas is due in Spain on business this week as he launches a brand of fragrance and is then due to travel to Catalunya to visit his family.

Nasri Could Be Inter Target
The Mirror also speculates that Samir Nasri could be a target for Inter Milan should Wesley Sneijder exit the San Siro.
The Dutchman has been sending out mixed messages over his future and is being linked with a £30+ million move to the Premier League with Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City all said to be interested. But the paper adds that Inter will make a £25 million bid for Nasri as a replacement for Sneijder.
I would take £25 million, wouldn't you guys?

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Speaking to Radio RMC, Sagna said: "I can say it’s true that Cesc wants to go to Barca.
"Fabregas wants to return to his country of birth, to his city, where his family are. He wants to play for one of the best teams in the world, Barcelona, and that’s understandable."
But the French defender reminded Barca it would be tough to land the skipper, adding: "At the moment, however, he is still Arsenal’s captain."

25mil is good money but a player of that quality lost would still be regretable.

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
What I think it is, is that, Spuds and City have this complex going on whereby they think they are in the same bracket as us when it come to signing players. Have you noticed how Chelsea are very rarely linked to the same players as us? That, imho, has a lot to do with inferiority.
City, however, can't help but poke their moses in. With cities resources, they should only be looking at well established players. Gervinho and Samba are not what city are looking for contrary to what the papers tell us. I think its a case of the papers or the team itself exaggerating the interest in a player.
As for Tottenham, they wake up every morning thinking they next to take our spot...we all know how that's gone for them don't we?!

if Benz becomes available, Wenger wil take up the opportunity to sign him. if he's at a sensible price, he won't just leave him just because of those twoGoonerJay29 wrote:We won't go for Benzema if we get Gervinho and Chamerlain in. Not even to play as a left winger. I just can't see it happening.

Yes you are right about that, Wenger knows this is the only chance he has to spend money, if he is available he will go for him.

In order for us to sign Benz, his asking price shouldn't exceed £23m. But I bet my bottom dollar that either Chelsea, Utd and Milans perk up like a colony of meerkats.

What kind of wage is Benzema on atm, I'm sceptical to whether or not we will be willing to match them...

The Benz deal should be done as quickly and quietly as possible, before Shitty start with their cowardly tactics again.

Benz is french.. I'd give Wenger the upper hand if anything were to happen.. Besides, he supposedly asked Nasri to stay patient till his stuff is sorted out at Madrid, which seems to mean that he'd want to join Nasri at Arsenal if he left Madrid..
Here is the sucky part - its still JUST SPECULATIONS.

Lol.. So does that mean he is at 140k a week?? Potentially, that means he will have to take a wage cut to come to Arsenal.. No WAY we are coughing up that amount each week for him!

Lol who comes up with these sites... Anyway I doubt any footballer in this day and age would take a wage cut hardly unlikely unfortunately...

lol, yeah, but the basic wage would just have to be cut...throw in a few bonuses as incentive. Robinho took a pay cut i'm sure, and even Granero...although tbf the latter was moving from Getafe to Madrid hahaha...maybe 110-120k (N.B, minimum), depends on how the whole deal is structured

Give him a contract with clauses for goals scored etc totaling upto 140k. This is one player I would not let go for a few thousand pounds per week.

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
I wouldn't take those sites as gospel. What I do know is that the tax brackets in Spain are more in favour of foreign imports. I remember reading an article about madrid and how they're able to splash. Basically, they can register players as 'staff/ foreign staff', they'd be placed on a more favourable tax bracket. Unless I'm mistaken, top players at Madrid are on something ridiculous like 27% income tax. Where as in the UK, once you exceed £150k per year (I think) you'll be taxed around 37% and another 12% national insurance.
*by all mean, please research those figures*
So for example, a player could get a net income of €100k (in spain). Then after tax, they'd take home like €78k a week net. In order to take home £78k net in the Uk (after tax and NI) you'd need a gross pay of £154k- now unless you're John Terry, Rooney or Yaya Toure, then its fair to say that you'd be taking home considerably less.

#AFC have agreed personal terms with Lille striker Gervinho. They expect to agree a transfer fee in the next 48 hours.
