Re: Rival thread
Surprise surprise, continue to Chelsea improve their team.
They look set to sign Matic. 25m Euros, what's that 20-22m pounds?
Arsenal's some what bottled it. They needed a striker in the summer, and instead signed a number 10 in Ozil (who is class) and now they're struggling. Chelsea / City to fight for the league I think.

Re: Rival thread
^ Just to clarity, by struggling there, I mean they could of walked the league but they didn't. They've left City and Chelsea in contention, and I can see them two overtaking them in the near future as it looks like both teams have settled/adapted to their new managers. Giroud isn't a "top top" player, so Arsenal are going to need their midfield to step up if they want to title challenge. They've obviously still have a chance to win it, they are first after all, but imo I think it's City's or Chelsea's. Lack of depth up top has hurt them.
Any who, Matic signing for Chelsea is imminent. 22m seems to be the fee. That genuinely improves their midfield heaps...

Re: Rival thread
How has Matic improved so much in a couple of years that he is now ready to improve Chelsea's midfield?
I bet he's just had it easy in the Portuguese league and at Benfica and will be Oriol Romeu Mk II

Re: Rival thread
I dont know how Matic performed in Europe but I guess he must have performed at some level and that is why people are after him or at least chelsea. Well if as Arty says, he might not improve Chelsea's midfield exponentially as he is supposed to

If ManU wins they would be three points away from us, if Chelsea wins they would be six points ahead of us.

Spurs are level on points with us and Everton, trailing by a point, have a game in hand.

It looks like we are never going to create enough distance between our rivals and us to make us favourite to finish top 4. Till the last game, we will fight for it.

Re: Rival thread
Feels very nice to be still 4th even after those 2 dropped points.
Interesting times ahead as we will play first Everton and then pay a visit to West Brom, that match should offer nice basis for comparison after Everton's draw there tonight.

Re: Rival thread
I think it isnt going to be so easy so to play against Baggies at their home, but if they try to play football and we dominate the game with the ball, we might literally kill the game with a good scoreline

Re: Rival thread
If Everton start turning their draws into wins, we're going to be in trouble. They've become hard to beat. Lost the fewest games, and have the 2nd best defence in the league.

Re: Rival thread
Everton are at their peak imo, only place there going could possibly be down, can't see them getting any better.
It's on us to maintain a high level like we did first half, race to top 4 will only be lost, if we lose it.

Re: Rival thread
"Liverpool are a team that interests everyone and Chelsea does not interest me so much because it is a new project with lots of money invested in it. I think it is a project which, if the club fail to win everything, then [Roman] Abramovich could retire and take the money out of the club. It's an uncertain project. It is interesting for a coach to have the money to hire quality players but you never know if a project like this will bring success." pre joining Chelsea, then...
"He said: “Manchester United would be a great challenge for me. But Liverpool is not the club for me. I know why, but I cannot tell you."
EDIT: APPARENTLY WE CHOSE RAFA OVER MOURINHO ACCORDING TO CARRAGHER IN CARRA'S AUTOBIOGRAPHY. CHELSEA WERE HIS SECOND PICK. HE'S ALSO STRUGGLED TO BEAT US IN EUROPE, EVEN IF HES TWATTED US IN THE LEAGUE. I DON'T KNOW IF I SHOULD LAUGH OR CRY.
HE'S LIKE THE LUIS SUAREZ OF MANAGERS.
EDIT II: IM STARTING A CONSPRIRACY. HE'S SELLING MATA TO UNITED TO HELP UNITED "LIFT" AND FOR LIVERPOOL TO FALL OUT. HE WANTS LIVERPOOL TO FAIL. HE'S STEALING OUR MAIN TARGET IN SALAH FOR THE EXACT SAME REASON. HE'S ON A MISSION. WE SHOULD OF SEEN THIS EARLIER WHEN HE GAVE US MOSES.

Did Flamini get a 3 match ban?
And how long is Ramsey out for?
We don't play them for another 12 days or so

Ramsey's out for a month.
Flamini was given a straight red for a 2 footed lunge, which is an automatic 3 match ban.

Re: Rival thread
Walcott out as well but they still don't come close to what we're missing. Rodgers said Sakho could still take maybe another 2 weeks to be fully fit. At least we'll have Allen back and Flanno would've gotten even more match fit. An outside chance with Sakho.
Agger, Enrique, Johnson, and Lucas are still long term.

Whatever happens, we need the 3 points. We lost to them at the Emirates, we need to "win" those points back.

Re: Rival thread
Why would it be 4?
Stupid tackle, and was rightfully red carded for it. It should be 3... unless I've missed something?

Re: Rival thread
Walcott and Ramsey are big misses for them, but they've got good depth anyway. Good that they didn't beat Southampton, though.
I'm undecided as to what result I'd like in the Totham v Mancity game tonight..
