Is Man City and Madrid the only clubs left with a chance against Barca in the coming years? Empty Is Man City and Madrid the only clubs left with a chance against Barca in the coming years?

Lets have a look at barca and their rivals for the title of worlds best team.

arsenal: meh, just lost 2 of their best players, and no sign of their replacements, probably some unknown youngsters. very unlikely to pose a threat to barca or any other top team for that matter.

bayern: good team, defence got a huge overlock with neuer, but still lacks some world class defenders, and maybe a good forward as well

chelsea: is begining a new era i think, with new coach, new philosphy. need time to take shape- lets see in 2-3 seasons.

inter: a glorious era has come to an end, 2 of their best players are on way out, financial crisis, and a new era is on the horizon, new team will likely need time more time than chelsea to take shape.

milan: on her way up, but still short on some champions to become champions. some areas need a little spice up. coach is inexperienced in top european level, zlatan is the champions league curse. this could be his season god will heal his curse, but looks unrealist.

madrid: the ever growing talent pool of madrid is very close to barca of any team in the world right now. the copa victory in may gave the players belief and mental strenght, but it quickly turnd into shatters after the semifinals. mourinho's architicture many times come to reality in his 2nd season, so lets wait and see the soon to be played supercup finals of spanish football versus the big dog of europe.

man city: this team got is loaded. there is young fresh players, there are experienced players, there is ambition only matched by the very best, but most of all there is hunger. but the team as whole has not experienced too much, but there is a time when inexperienced and unconfident computernerd turns into superstud stealing all the chicks. and that time could be for city this year.

man united: man united got a pretty hard slap in thier faces last time they tried to flirt with the very best of this sport, and the experience was way too imbaressing for man u to recover from such a night so quickly. will probably take some more time and new faces with more courage before they might try asking barca for a dance again.

my view on current and not so distant future of european football supremacy

Sooner or later Barcelona will fall, remember the fantastic four season? Ronaldinho, Eto'o, Messi and Henry battling for minutes. Finished 18 points behind Real Madrid. Oh, yes, Xaviesta was there at that time aswell...

Are you really trying to compare Rijkaard era with Guardiola era?

Also Iniesta was'nt a starter at that time.

They will fall sooner or later but that's because nothing lasts for ever not because mistakes will be repeated.

Still think they have that amount of talent, its just they dont have the mentality to succeed at the top level imo.

I'm not saying that the exact same thing will happen.

Every great team falls, remember the Real Madrid of 2001-02? Looked like they would be unbeatable when Ronaldo also joined in the summer of 2002. They had a 2 times CL winning coach. They won La Liga the following season, but lost out with some bad luck against Juventus in the semifinal of CL. The defense general was getting old and got an unceremonious exit (Hierro). Barcelona will have a similar situation with Puyol soon, even thou I doubt they will treat him as badly as Madrid did. At the same time Makélélé demanded a pay rise to the level of Zidane, Ronaldo and Raúl. Which the very business oriented Perez unfortunately refused since Makélélé wasn't bringing in the dough. Oh, talking about Raúl, due to a back injury he lost his magic and never really returned. The coach was shown the door. Title drought ensured even thou they still had some of the best players in the last two decades playing on a high level (Figo, Zidane, R. Carlos and Ronaldo).

Some minor mistake here or there could have devastating effects. Or an unlucky injury. Not that he was at the same level, but Raúl could be compared to Messi. Debuted and became a star at a very young age, became the best goalscorer in CL at the age of 20-24. A similar back injury or a Kaká/Ronaldo-esque knee-injury to Messi and he could get slowed down just like Raúl or the other two.

Anything can happen.

Yh i agree then, it will happen eventually the next generation for me depends alot on how Puyol's retirement is dealt with who imo is going to be alot harder to replace than Xavi.

Anyway ofcourse Barca are not going to dominate for ever it some point it will end it's just a question of when.

barcelona as a club has a great philosophy, squad wise and philosophy wise they still have quite a lot of time alive imo.

but everything goes in a circle of life and i really bout that barcelona in 5 years time will still be in the same winning sitaution.

if we fire the stupid refs, and teach people how to park buses then we would also be teaching them the art of killing barcelona's winning strategy.

stark,ovrebo cls 2

wonder how many cls they can win fairly.. :coffee:
