Zubizarreta (sports director): "Looking for players who can unlock defenses, we started to follow Alexis this year. Rossi on final list too"

"Bojan needed to play more. We thought a club coached by L.Enrique was a good option so he can return as a more mature player."

"Thiago will have more than enough playing time because the season is long and there are many mintues to spread." [tv3 via ara]

ROMA ARE OUT of Europa League!! " i think its better for them.. they need time & its better for them to focus on the Calcio"

Results:

Slovan (Slovakia) 1 - 0 ASRoma
ASRoma 1 - 1 Slovan (Slovakia)

--------------------

`Starting line-up (2nd leg):

Roma (4-3-3): Stekelenburg; Cicinho, Cassetti, Burdisso, Jose' Angel; Viviano, Perrotta Simplicio; Caprari, Totti, Bojan

Bojan missed a 1 on 1 vs Gk in the last 5 minutes!!

Totti Mad

1- I watched last 20 minutes.. Roma were winning 1-0 & searching for 2ng goal to qualify, they missed some chances.. @82' Slovakian team scores from a counterattack (defensive mistake)

2- Alot of players were missing, new signing Osvaldo..
Lamela, DE ROSSI, Pizarro, Borriello etc..

3- Team needs time, i think its better for them not to play in Europe & focus on Seria A.. But the question is, will Roma give Luis Enrique enough time, to build his team??? Totti has alot of problems with Luis Enrique!!
like always " Roma Coach vs Totti"... usually, Totti wins & Roma LOSE!!

Di Benedetto: 'I'm with Enrique'

Roma owner Thomas Di Benedetto welcomes their Europa League elimination and warns Francesco Totti “I support the Coach 100 per cent.”

The pressure has sky-rocketed on Luis Enrique after he dropped Totti for the first leg and substituted him in the second, losing 2-1 on aggregate to Slovan Bratislava.

Fans and local media have demanded the tactician’s dismissal and backed Totti in this apparent cold war.

“I admire Totti very much, as he is a great player and very important for our project, but the Coach decides who plays and when,” warned Di Benedetto on Sky Sport Italia.

“And I support the Coach 100 per cent. We chose him for his philosophy of football, that Barcelona style, but also his behaviour on and off the field. The squad counts more than the individual.”

Fans are furious at the Europa League play-off elimination, but the American investor has other ideas.

“Not being in Europe could prove to be an advantage for Roma. We can give the older players more time to recover and recuperate, plus the Coach can prepare better for each game. This elimination could make us stronger.”

I think Roma have had, by far, the best transfer season. They have essentially bought a new, young, promising, competitive squad while ensuring depth at the same time. Walter Sabatini's gambles may not all work out, but it's safe to say most will. It's a shame most of these transfers didn't arrive earlier as I feel like that could have saved a lot of adaptation time, but solid work nevertheless.

Actually Totti has said absolutely nothing and done nothing to fuel this media shitstorm on us. Totti was taken off, but didn't react or anything, it was the 50 000+ Roma fans at the stadium that went against Enrique's decision. It was a decision that made absolutely no sense whatsoever and it was more a case of Enrique trying to stamp his authority, and it backfired. Thankfully our last day in the transfer market turned the attention a bit. And according to the media, it's always Totti vs. Roma coach, but in reality that happened once (with Ranieri) and wasn't even the reason for his exit. Actually, Totti almost single-handedly kept Ranieri's job in his last match against Genoa, but our disastrous defense kind of ruined everything.

As for Bojan, he was lively, but I think he crumbled under the pressure. I know he's used to playing at Camp Nou and everything, but this was his first game at the Olimpico and it was quite an important match. He had 2-3 good scoring chances, but failed to take them. It happens, I'm sure he'll get his scoring boots on in Serie A though.

Bojan scored his third goal this season for Roma..
vs Atalanta, ACMilan & Navora

- 8 matches (4 starter/ 390 minutes): 3goals.

================
Bojan played in the last 28 minutes vs Navora (62')..
has a great game, 2 shots (both on target), scored a goal 72'(nice assist by pjanic) & created a goalscoring chance for Osvaldo (great cross) who missed it..

Yeah, I reckon this is close to their best side. Though I would prefer Juan in defence, probably with Cassetti and I also think De Rossi should be unleashed from his position into a b2b mid. Make Gago the deep-lying anchor and De Rossi can use his attacking skills more.

Cassetti was a disaster today, he was very close to get a red card.. & made 2 big mistakes in the defence, thx to steklenburg who saved the day..
Burdisso is doing well.. plus kjaer should take his chance, he is very talented.. was great until he made that mistake vs Lazio ( which lead for a penalty + red)!!

Is Lamela going to be a future Iniesta considering the touches with which he controlled the ball and went past players?

One game as starte, he plays badly and he has to go back to the bench?
Bojan needs a run of starts to play well, he has a fragile morale, and needs confidence to play at his top level. Give him the time Osvaldo has had, and he would surely have scored more than Osvaldo's 5 goals.

Plus, Roma won. There is no need to make radical changes when you are winning. Bojan as starter! Hear me, Luis enriquis!

Perhaps in that aspect, but he plays much more forward and doesn't track back (or if he does, he doesn't do it well). I think he's going to evolve into an SS from his trequartista position right now, he played that position once Totti came in.

The problem with the run of games argument is that Bojan has actually been playing great as a sub, unlike at Barca, so he doesn't seem to require that at Roma. Perhaps he feels more important there than he did at Barca. That being said he should be started.

Exactly, I understand the argument of Bojan needing a run of games to play well. He's had 5 starts and played rather poorly in all of those. Yet in the 4 games that he's been brought in as a sub, he played especially well and scored 2 goals. At the moment, he's in contention with Osvaldo, Totti, Lamela, Borriello and eventually Borini once he comes back from injury. So if he's playing well coming off the bench, then what's wrong with that formula? I see no problems with starting Lamela, Totti and Osvaldo, with Bojan coming off the bench.
