Pastore's weird reasoning
He tried to explain why he didn't join Chelsea:
Either, he tries to cover the fact that he went after money or Lampard seriously hinders Chelsea's rebuilding. I think it's the former
Source: http://www.goal.com/en/news/90/france/2011/08/06/2606983/i-would-not-have-much-playing-time-at-chelsea-paris-saintPastore revealed that he decided against joining Chelsea as he had doubts over the squad role he would be given.
"I decided to come to PSG for several reasons. With my agent, we analysed my situation and it is this club who suit me the most, given the team's level and my own and what I can bring to them," he noted.
"Had I joined Chelsea or another club, I would probably not have the playing time I expected. At PSG, I think I will play a lot, which will allow me to show my game."

Re: Pastore's weird reasoning
I would say its because Chelsea were never seriously interested. Both Pastore and Modric are different type o players so considering Chelsea are chasing Modric i dont think they were never seriously interested in Pastore.

Re: Pastore's weird reasoning
It think we should also consider the tactical constraints regarding this move..
I mean if villas-boas were to use the proverbial 4-3-3 formation, pastore simply wouldnt fit in coz he is a natural trequartista and has never been deployed in deep-lying role or depending on what kind of mf chelsea are actually looking for..
Whereas modric is a versatile player and would easily fit into boas's scheme of things..Plus he's a proven pl player..
I think chelsea eventually have made the right decision..Although i think that pastore would walk into chelsea's eleven..
Mainly must have been for money..

Chelsea need to scrap with Lampard and get an AM and a creative CM

Re: Pastore's weird reasoning
PSG is going to build around him. Some guys like to build their own legacy as opposed to just fall into one... takes a different kind of person. Not saying one is better than the other btw.

Now that he went there for 43 mill his chances of playing for a big club soon are zero. Not before his contract ends...

Re: Pastore's weird reasoning
I dont think Chelsea ever made him feel like they would built around him or that he would be a key part for tomorrow, which is exactly what PSG did, while giving him the illusion that he would be open to move later.
A matter of opportunity, Chelsea never even wanted to match his clause, while he was badly wanted by Paris. There is a huge marketing coup for PDG here, Pastore is good looking. Gourcuff built his fame on being the good looking french french guy of the NT

Pastore can easily play the role of linking the midfield to the attack in a 4-3-3.
However, with the kind of players Chelsea have, it would have been difficult. For example, Pastore and Modric could play together, but i cannot see pastore and Essien playing together or Pastore and Lampard playing together.
I guess that is what he is talking about!

Re: Pastore's weird reasoning
Yes Pastore can..its going to be more like leonardo's 4-2 fantasia where seedorf was the link to the mf and attack..But i'm talking about a free role handed out to him..In a sense that he doesnt need to track back..Quite evident from his palermo days..
And To be honest ,i'm not sure as to what kind of midfielder chelsea are looking for..
If they are looking for an alternative to lampard than modric seems the best option..

Re: Pastore's weird reasoning
Actually, Pastore is getting probably the same, if not less, had he gone to the EPL. 5-6 million euros a year or something like that. Not outrageous.

How do you know that PSG won't end up being a big club?
