Re: Sunderland AFC
Jeez Sunderland will be in a mess if they dont buy properly. They need a new GK,Cb to replace Mensah(Not Turner) , Striker to replace Bent,Cambell and Welback,Proper LB and also need to replace Henderson and Muntari in midfield.More complicated if Gyan is sold.
They basically need 6 players for first XI alone. They need a few decent squad players as well.Only good thing is they have money.
If Bruce messes up in Transfer Market then they will be in for a long hard season IMO.

Re: Sunderland AFC
Henderson already has a replacement in Colback., who is probably the better played tbh. But it seems like we have Larsson. He is reported to be having a medical today actually.
Reports suggest we have agreed a deal for Dong One & bid £8 million for Connor Wickham.
A deal has also reportly been agreed for the goal keeper Kieron Westwood.
Doesn't look like we will be selling Gyan now, Quinn has came out and said it wont happen, Gyan himself has also said he is happy at Sunderland.

Re: Sunderland AFC
^ what happened to the united trio bid? I thought Gibson was close to signing and will be Henderson replacement.Suddenly everything has gone quite on those 3.
Also is sunderland trying to sign both Wickham and Ngog.Or is NGog fall back option to Wickham?
I would expect u to replace Bent with slightly high profile striker THB.

Re: Sunderland AFC
not sure what's happening with the united 3, I don't think Brown will be happening he wants to see out his contract at UTD.
not sure Ngog was ever going to happen, think that was just press speculation.
if we sign Dong & Wickham we will then have them 2 aswell as Gyan & Campbell when he comes back. Also Sess can play upfront.
There is still interest in Nzogbia aswell.

Don't sign Gibson... he can't shoot. O'Shea can't either. Webb won't leave United. Audacious bid for him, though.
Gyan staying = what happens to Wickham/N'gog?

Liverpool Echo reported Sunderland has agreed 3mil fee for NGog and the deal will go through once returns from holiday and agree personal terms. They are usually spot on about us and Everton.Would be very surprised if NGog doesnt sign for u guys.
Has Cambell returned from injury.I thought he is completely ruled out for next season.
Gibson---------Cattermole
Larson--------Sessangon----------------N'Zogbia
Gyon
Dont know how sunderland will lineup next season but this would be a decent front 6 TBH.Not sure about defense and GK though.

Re: Sunderland AFC
He played the last 10 games of the season and did really well. Can only get better with more experience.
Hes allot more composed than Henderson and I think he will actually end up being a better player.

Re: Sunderland AFC
God only knows. I think there will be allot of squad rotation.
Bringing different player s in depending in our opponents.
IE if we are setting our midfied up as all out attacking or want a more defensive element.
Catts is a defensive midfielder as is Colback. I can see Larsson playing in the wing, with elmo probably moving to right back.
We also have Richardson aswell, but its hard to say where his role now is.
Just have to see what Bruce comes up with.

Re: Sunderland AFC
Sunderland are reinforcing impressively. If they can have a steady season form-wise and Bruce gets things working, Sunderland could have the players to pull off some (more) major shocks.
Edit. I'm actually thinking that Bruce could potentially be the weakest link in Sunderland's chain next season, no disrespect. Has he got the experience and skills to get the best joint potential out of these new players, plus the existing ones, of course? He seemed very short of ideas last season during Sunderland's nightmare run...

Re: Sunderland AFC
Wickham is still far from being completed.
Every 1 keeps on going on about this nightmare run. Look at the teams we played. And look at the amount of injuries we had. For a number of those games we didn't have a recognised striker to play. Also worth baring in mind last season we had the smallest and youngest average aged squad in the the league.
Then other achievements get ignored like going unbeaten in London, how well we played at the start of the season. With one of the best home records and all the clean sheets we had.
I doubt any other manager would of done any better.
Additions like Gardner, Larsson, dong & Wickham are definite improvements to our squad.

Re: Sunderland AFC
Not as far from being completed as I thought
Steve Bruce has made England under-21 international Connor Wickham his latest summer signing.
The 6'3" 18-year-old - rated as one of the country's brightest talents - has moved from Ipswich Town for a fee of £8m, with the potential to rise to £12m over the course of the contract, depending on a number of factors.
Wickham, who was named the Football League's Young Player of the Year for the 2010-11 season, has signed a four-year deal on Wearside.
The player returned from international duty earlier this week after representing his country in the U21 European Championships in Denmark.
Wickham became Ipswich's youngest ever player when he made his debut for the Tractor Boys aged just 16 years and 11 days.
The striker's first full season yielded a return of six goals in 10 starts and a further 19 appearances off the bench, while he netted nine goals in 40 games last term before winning the prestigious Football League award.
He also scored the winning goal for England's under-17 side in the U17 European Championships Final last summer.

Bruce is making good signings.
If we buy a good defender for back up so that we dont have another injury crisis with defenders and we'll do well

Re: Sunderland AFC
I don't think we should have as much of a problem with injuries this season.
One of our main problems has been lack of a in door pitch to train on. during the winter (when we picked up most of our injuries) the training pitches at the AOL were frozen.
Due to the geographical location of our training facilities being so close to the north east coast, the weather seriously affects us. Athletes running & playing on frozen pitches it not good. Seriously affects out ability to train and maintain a fitness regime.
We have one of the best academy/training facilities in the country apart from the lack of indoor pitch. We have been trying to build one for years but angry & bitter geordies in the area kept crying, then objecting & refusing planning permission.
To try & combat the problem this summer we have installed under pitch heating at the training ground.
