Thats not true at all. Atletico romped through English teams on the way to there Europa trophy.
Why talk about something u dont know about? Seriously did u even watch Atletico match vs Liverpool? Spouting nonsense wouldn't make ur arguement legitimate.

No offense, but i dont think Roma or Napoli could win the Serie A even from the start!

No offense, but do you watch football ? Roma lost the Scudetto in the last match of the season in the 2009/2010 season and Napoli were right on Milan's track until the last few games where Milan broke away.

I agree. They are quite close in quality. But Inter and Milan will always be a step ahead of those teams.
However, the situation is much better in Serie A. Atleast the title is not decided until the last few matches of the season. The quality gap is small among the top 3 or top 4 in Serie A which is much more than what i can say about La Liga.
There are going to be some changes in the TV revenue distribution, so hopefully, that should give the much needed boost to the teams below Barcelona and Madrid!

What does what I said have to do with Messi? You're just mad because Sevilla is better than Liverpool, it's ok though, I know it's the delusion talking.BeautifulGame wrote:Lionel Messi wrote:imo, Valencia and Arsenal are about as good as each other, Villareal is a bit better than Spurs, and Sevilla is better than Liverpool

Re: Spain's two horse race
Lionel Messi wrote:Without getting into my opinion on the matter, lets just look at the facts about La Liga in the past 10 years:
Since 2000 La Liga has had 4 different clubs win the league: Real Madrid(4), Barcelona(4), Valencia(2), and Deportivo(1)
La Liga has had 8 different clubs finish in the top 3: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Sevilla, Villarreal, Deportivo, Sociedad, Mallorca.
Since 2000 La Liga teams have won 5 Champions League titles: Real Madrid(2) and Barcelona(3)
Since 2000 La Liga teams have won 4 UEFA Cup/Europa League titles: Sevilla(2), Valencia(1), Atletico(1)
These stats suggest that it is more competitive and a league with stronger teams than the EPL in comparison, just putting that out there, I know this isn't EPL vs La Liga just putting a comparison to determine how strong the competition is in La Liga.
If you want to watch for example the 2006-07 season again as replays, that's cool.
But if you want to watch La Liga in 2011, the fact is that it's a boring two-horse race. Several good teams, but a boring league.
Point differences between 2nd and 3rd in
2009: 8 pts
2010: 25 pts
2011: 21 pts
2012: [insert two-digit number]

Re: Spain's two horse race
Alright enough with "delusional" allegedness.
@Messi: how is Sevilla better ? I honestly rate Liverpool higher and I am nowhere near sympathetic to them, let alone biased or a supporter.
To be honest La Liga is a two-horse race but hopefully it can improve, and I think it has to if it wishes to become a more quality and more enjoyable league. To be honest, I think foreign support would be higher. Foreign as in, people who do not support La Liga teams.
I mean, I watch a ton of Serie A games no matter what, but I am somewhat of a bandwagoner in terms of what I watch in other leagues; MU v. City, Arsenal v. Liverpool, etc. but I only watch El Clasico because all the other matches are literally a thrashing by Barca or RM. Not fun to watch.

If u cant see how Liverpool is better than Sevilla then u are just pretending to be ignorant and just being a troll as usual. No point explaining to someone like that who is just immersed in too much Messi fantasies.

Re: Spain's two horse race
Why are we taking stats from 2000? La Liga turned into a two horse race only 3 seasons ago or so. Why are we looking back 10 years ago? Its like saying that Arsenal are still favorites to win the EPL because they won it back in 03/04.
Its a two-horse race; not only because of other La Liga teams being a bit weak, but also because Real Madrid and Barca are powerful as well. I really don't get what the point of arguing against this by using stats from over a decade ago.
If you want to look at stats, then take a look at the difference in points and Goal Differential between Barca/RM and the teams that got the 3rd and 4th spots.

Re: Spain's two horse race
I honestly think PL would be a two horse race if Real Madrid and Barcelona played in it aswell. They are just too good atm, while they pressure each other to make very few slipups each season.

Re: Spain's two horse race
Couldn't disagree more. Assuming you'd replace United and Chelsea with RM and Barca, I can still see them having competition. Arsenal and Manchester City would give each of RM and Barca a run for their money, and the difference in points between second and third wouldn't be as big as it is in La Liga right now.
A two-horse race just means that there is no possibility of anyone else winning, and I don't see that as the case if they do join the EPL.

Difference is that Arsenal and Manchester City slip up against teams other than the other big clubs on a regular basis. Real Madrid and Barcelona just don't do it, mainly thank to Messi and Ronaldo who against lower level clubs more often than not score atleast one goal per game. While both teams dominate possession against any team inferior in talent (which is every team except Barcelona for Real Madrid, and every team for Barcelona). Ronaldo have also shown that he can be that difference maker who make sure his team don't slip up in those crucial "easy games" in EPL.
If any team want to challange Real Madrid and Barcelona in a league, they don't only need to be able to beat them up front, which any good team could on any given day, it's football. But they would also need a close to perfect record against the smaller sides.

Ever think that the level of the teams in EPL is higher than those in Spain? That makes a huge difference.

same crap every time, premfaces thinks EPl lower position teams are better than La liga lower league teams lol. What basis are there?
Re: Spain's two horse race
Actually La liga lower division teams can play with their feet unlike EPL lower division who always need to look up to see ball first.

Re: Spain's two horse race
seriously though, smaller teams in epl and seria A focus on defense more, they are much better defensively when they need to then laliga teams. thats why i believe barca and madrid would struggle more. even in the CL when barca face a small cl team that can actually put 11 men behind the ball and defend they struggle.

then explain what is the proof for above written pos.Iceman wrote:Ever think that the level of the teams in EPL is higher than those in Spain? That makes a huge difference.
How exactly is EPl teams better than La liga teams as a whole?
Valencia gave MANUTD a run for their money in OT.
How exactly is rest of EPL teams are on a higher level than la liga clubs?
Last year every EPl teams who faced La liga clubs got ass whipped.
