Re: the Cesc Fabregas Thread
Arsenal announces today that they have reached an agreement in principle with Barcelona for Cesc Fabregas to move to Spain.
It signals the end of the midfielder's eight-year spell at Arsenal. Fabregas joined the Club from Barcelona as a 16-year-old in September 2003 and made 303 appearances, scoring 57 goals in all competitions.
He holds the records for the youngest Arsenal first team player (16 years and 177 days v Rotherham United (h), 28 October 2003) and the youngest Arsenal first team goalscorer (16 years and 212 days v Wolves (h), 2 December, 2003).
Named as Arsenal Captain in November 2008, Fabregas also became a regular in the Spain national team, making 58 appearances to date.
Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger said: "We have been clear that we didn't want Cesc to leave and that remains the case. However, we understand Cesc's desire to move to his home town club and have now accepted an offer from Barcelona. We thank Cesc for his contribution at Arsenal and wish him future success."
The transfer is subject to the completion of formal legal agreements and registration processes, together with Fabregas agreeing personal terms and passing a medical.

Re: the Cesc Fabregas Thread
It's going to be strange without Cesc this year. It's only a matter of time before Nasri now. Hopefully someone steps up and replaces/attempts to replace the void he has left.

All good things come to an end. Sadly he didnt leave the way we wanted him too, but this move had to happen for us to grow as a team.

Re: the Cesc Fabregas Thread
Yeah, we need to spend the money now more than ever. If we don't then I expect a Typical Arsenal season with high hopes and no end product. It would be sad because we can easily challenge for titles, but the clubs stinginess kills everyone's hopes.
Official: Arsenal are a selling club.
if we don't reinforce the squad as needed

Nah nah, there's no way Wenger will be stingy with the transfer kitty he's gonna have. It's a tough blow that we all knew was coming. But, we'll move forward.

Re: the Cesc Fabregas Thread
Barcelona vice president Josep Maria Bartomeu has admitted that Cesc Fabregas is probably worth the £53 million Arsenal initially demanded, after watching some of his early performances for the Spanish side.
The two clubs were involved in protracted negotiations for Fabregas' signature that went on for more than 12 months, with the Spanish champions initially put off by Arsenal's valuation of their prized asset.
After much wrangling a deal worth an initial £25 million was agreed this summer, with that figure potentially rising by a further £10 million based on various incentives and clauses. Fabregas has since made a great start to his career at Camp Nou, and Bartomeu has now acknowledged that perhaps Arsenal's initial valuation was fair all along.
"After seeing the work he's done since his arrival it is true that Cesc meets the €60 million (£53 million) valuation Arsenal initially demanded," Bartomeu told Sport. "The kid is demonstrating a high level and quality in three weeks of training. The transfer was very good. In a market that is so open Cesc is worth a lot of money.
"It was complicated to close the deal," he said. "The negotiations were very hard."
Fabregas has already won both the European Super Cup and Spanish Super Cup since moving to Barcelona, scoring in the former.
Arsenal, however, have been forced to react after losing Fabregas and fellow midfielder Samir Nasri towards the end of the summer transfer window - signing Mikel Arteta and Yossi Benayoun as replacements on deadline day.
