Re: La Liga 2023/24
EPL is clearly the top league in the world and it's not even close. However, La Liga is right behind.

Since Real Madrid fans are the only prevalent fans here as a whole I have a question:
How do you rate Carlo so far overall for Real Madrid, and in his second tenure, AND this season? Do you want him to stay?

Really hoping Atlético can GTFO of the Top 4 bc I am sick of their manager and team by this point and of course want Athletic to get into the top 4 comfortably by now.

Not a Real fan, but I think Carlo is doing wonders at the moment and they should do everything to keep him for now.

He's a great man manager, has good relations with everyone, doesn't stir fights in the locker room or pit players against each other like Mourinho used to but he can be tactically stubborn sometimes.
Overall i'd rate him 8 out of 10, he's arguably in the top 5 managers in our history in terms of trophy success.

Didn't know you prefer watching donkeys muling and braying about sports. donkey enthusiasts i swear. Can't even break the europa league stranglehold held by the mighty sevilla.
Best league in the world? Nah bruv. Best D o n k e y league in the world? Now that's more accurate.

World's best and it's not even close. Mentored Zidane too. Never wanted him to leave in the first place but bale screwed him during his first tenure. No reason for him to leave now. He is the Don for a reason. Especially with how miserly flo has been with transfers as of late, I don't think anyone else would have done better than what Carlo had been served this season when you consider there is no elite cf on the team.

He is IMO, the best manager out there bar none! It’s fabulous he is accepting a renewal.
This year, he is showing a great deal of flexibility and his ability to continue to get wins even though half of his starting lineup has been out for extended periods. For once the squad doesn’t have any deadwood and Carlo has confidence in all of them, regardless of age. He is also developing the kids both thru playing time and personal conversations. A lot of people including you have said Carlo wouldn’t do many of the things he is doing this year.
His providing advice and in some cases constructive criticism extends to entire squad regardless of age!

Carlo has done very well this season. We've had 3 ACLs and a number of long term injuries and we've only lost one game.
He is a company man and the perfect puppet of Perez. We have no CBs, went into the season without a wc n9 and he never said a word

Re: La Liga 2023/24
Im very pleased to hear this. Carletto and thank you guys for the comprehensive responses.
Señor Bill my cynicism comes from how Carlo handled situations in Milan for he was far more rigid as I'd spend time defending him but also was NOT a fan of him in league, compared to the UCL. He was extremely frustrating and stubborn but SOMEHOW he has managed to actually evolve as a manager. Post Paris tenure I thought came his regression but somehow he seems to be better in his second time for Madrid rather than even his first.
Quite frankly Im surprised at his progress and is on his way to winning the league, for Girona simply will not last.

Re: La Liga 2023/24
The priority at Madrid has always been the CL and rightfully so. These days it takes essentially 2 teams within squad to compete in all competitions. When you look at our injury list, it is remarkable how well he is doing.
Carlo said when he came up with the formation to suit Bellingham and the absence of a #9, that he had made mistakes in the past by not taking advantage of skills within squad. He sure is evolving. As I said earlier i think at this point he is the best manager out there.

Good. Very good in fact.
But now is the challenge. The teams that he inherited at RM before were already winners and well-constructed. He needs to transition players out.
I'm very very curious to see if, like last year, he decides to play Kroos and Modric in every game in the 2nd half of the season. They can't do it. He's forced Tchouamni to play CB, which has created a DM issue. Will he play Camavinga there? That would be the right choice. Now let's see if he stays with his known flaw.... play veterans when it counts regardless of form... or if he actually transitions.
Bellingham is also going to stop scoring like he is. A 442 lacks width. Will he adjust his tactics once this happens?
A lot of questions for me.

Re: La Liga 2023/24
CL should be the priority for anyone. I rather win a CL than the world cup by this point. Its priceless. Real are the undisputed in that, sadly.
Im glad Sports always knew you're a casual fan of him. Just so surprised at his adaptation and flexibility for managers in their old age never do that nor did he in Milan nor Paris and only showed signs of it in Napoli in fact.
Bellingham is due to stop scoring the way he does why the argument RM dont need a top CF is Bs anyway.

Re: La Liga 2023/24
Carlo has a lot of class... i always liked the about him. Great manager without the pretentious side of Pep or the salt of Mou.
Regardless of how things go this year or the next 3, Carlo is one of the best managers of all time, no question.
My slight salt with him is that he didn't win more Serie A titles with the AC Milan team that he had lol. And the loss in that CL final of course. I liked those teams.

His class is always known, no doubt why CR after SAF finds him his favourite from what I get even.
I will never forgive him for his Serie A performances even if he won one, even if just one. That will always be a blight in his career along with ruining Kombuaré's Ligue 1 progress for no reason when he came into Paris lol.

Re: La Liga 2023/24
Ancelotti were always bad in the leagues though right? Wasnt it he almost never won a league title or something?
Not sure but this current spell as amazing as it has been, its mainly built on having Modric/Kroos, basically still the same core of the team? Barca in the state we r in is a factor... ppl seem to forget he lost to league to a pretty shit Barca last season XD He tends to do well managing big stars, n struggle with lower level talents n consistency long term. An example is doing the double with Chelsea n then dropped off badly the season after which was very strange.
Not saying hes not a top manager... but pretty sure hes been up n down throughout his career like most ppl... no one is perfect of cos...

Well main reason i like carlo is the whole quality ceiling. Some managers are consistent, others not so much. Carlo however is relatively unique in that he is shockingly inconsistent. But he makes for it with the ceiling being the highest of any manager out there currently.
Carlo has trouble winning leagues because he sacrifices consistency for potential quality. You dont need to be play sexy football to win titles. U just need to not lose and win matches you're not supposed to lose.
Balanced football is not always sexy and at times it is a chore to watch. Even more so when carlo chooses to respect experience more than athleticism. But when it works, teams simply have no answer for it no matter who it is.
Milan team was great but you forget during those days, serie a was a league to be reckoned with. The other teams were simply more consistent. Though i do agree Carlo should've won more with what he had.
If you want to win cl you need quality. If you want league titles, you need consistency. Theres a reason why some ae cup specialists like Carlo and then there those chumps who are only good for league titles like Conte for example. Though it would be mad silly to simplify it like i did. There's much more to it. But I'm gwtting offtopic.
Tl;dr carlo is a quality ceiling manager, not a consistent manager. U want consistency, look to guardiola or conte (lol never rated him but some people do).

Re: La Liga 2023/24
Didnt see the farsa game. What happened that xavi struggled against the mighty palmas of the canaries?
Also i would like to take the time to say that Xavi is a good man who is in need of a lifetime contract. I hope Laporta does the right thing and gives xavi the keys to the farsa fiefdom.

Re: La Liga 2023/24
One of our problems in terms of opponents not fearing us anymore ever since Messi left n then Dembele means they are not afraid to really attack us whenever they want pretty much. In the past with those two players teams were always worried we exploit the space left behind if they didnt have at least a couple of players or their whole backline and/or a DM covering their asses Nowadays even mid bottom teams go at us for fun cos we offer little threat on the counter. No speed except for the occasional Raphinha runs, n no physicality to win long balls as Lewand is getting old...
Add to that no Ter Stegen to save us, n in general our defending in general had declined, partly due to no Busquets to roam around as slow as he was an expert in anticipation of the opponents moves n often led our press in winning balls or at least made it difficult for them to play through us...
Anyway, top 4 is our target which should be fine Roque only played a little bit but looked very lively n seems to have something our forwards dont which gives hope for our attack...
