Re: 2022/2023 Premier League Discussion
I wanted to respond to earlier posts about the need for rotations to be able to compete in multiple competitions.
Before I write what I think is happening with the top clubs, I first want to repeat a post I just made in another thread about the economics of today’s game.
“ It’s a question of understanding the economics of today’s game. Reality is there are less than 10 clubs (2 in Spain, one in Germany and one in France, rest are in EPL) that can buy and pay the top players. Generally the salary structure is such that even the bottom dwellers on these teams are paid higher than others teams in general making it difficult to move underperformers. They generally, depending on country and basic business principles have to keep the true gross salary load (not the net that is usually reported) within the club’s operating income as well as other operating expenses. Of the 10 clubs, even with the EPL television revenues, not all of them have the same budget capacity such as City, Man U and perhaps Chelsea (depends on new owner) have.”
I believe it has always been necessary to have significant rotations to be able to compete in multiple competitions, but the pressure has increased in past several years due to the intense schedules including international games and the inevitable injuries that result. And now with the marketplace having a very limited number of teams that can buy top players, I think there is a movement within these top teams to have 12 to 15 so called starters having regular rotations. But not all of the 10 clubs can afford that and there are also at least a couple of them that make poor acquisitions or put too much of salary load into top 2 or 3 players.

Money or not, I've been impressed with the nufc pressing game and they are absolutely playing with more hunger than most other teams in the league

Re: 2022/2023 Premier League Discussion
My come back to anyone that says anything is basically our best winger and striker have barely played and two of our best midfielders have both missed time.
Obviously we haven't had financial backing long enough to have real depth so I'm surprised it's going as well as it is. Eddie Howe seems really good at his job I guess.

i think they can challenge for the top 4 seeing as they don't have European football to fatigue them

Will singlehandedly make Utd a title contender if they can get a decent goalscorer
Where is your apology @Firenze

To be perfectly fair, Casemiro has very favorable stats because he's barely played since he transferred to Man United

They have a decent goalscorer. They just choose not to use him for valid and not so valid reasons.

What are the 'not so valid' reasons?

What do you expect? Curtis Jones, Henderson and Milner subbed on to win a game, that is where we are at. Imagine if Klopp could spend.

Been asking you to come back since a long while brother even when you ignored Newcastle doing well last year, love it.

Klopp cycle over like the last 5 years, but still the only team to beat Man City again this season.

Who is stopping you? Oh yeah I forgot, even during Klopp cycle being supposedly over your trash pile of a team is only 4 points clear of them

not sure what's more pathetic, Klopp's inability to keep it up (must be the alcohol) or Liverpool fan's sheepish whining
