The distance between city and the rest is just too much. Hope they win the CL so Pep finally leaves

Why would he want to leave City though? No pressure to win CL, a team that still follows his orders and a hierarchy that appreciates him.BarrileteCosmico wrote:The distance between city and the rest is just too much. Hope they win the CL so Pep finally leaves

Because pep is a weird guy. He had all that at barca too and was still like "one year renewals only, i don't want to commit. Also I'm taking a sabbatical and am pissed you announced my 2nd in command as Mt replacement, how dare you!"

At barca he didnt have infinite funds tho and the team's projection in general was poor after 2011 and the signings were a miss. This city team still seems hungry, with the addition of haaland specially

You know, as bad as this match was for Utd, I still rank the Brentford loss as their worst performance I have ever seen from them.
But this is definitely a top 5 shit performance. Geez.

He's not a weird guy at all, he's a pragmatic and methodical coach who's all about pilling up trophies and enhancing his legacy He has always taken the path of least resistance to get there and there is no other team that provides an easier path than City.
Unlimited funds? check. Final say over signings? check. Allowed to fail in the CL even against subpar opponents? check. He'd be an insane person to walk away from the team.

Re: 2022/2023 Premier League Discussion
While not unlimited funds he did have a large budget. And he did have final say over transfers, the entire club was against Chigrinsky's signing for instance and we still got him because Pep wanted him. And after 2 CL wins it would have taken a lot of CL failures for people to turn on him.

Re: 2022/2023 Premier League Discussion
Pep has mentioned in the past he makes his decision on extension based off two main criterias.
1. Is if the players are still behind him and following his instructions, he knows he's a micro manager always in his players ears, were he admits that players get irrated equally he himself get irrated with certain players.
2. If he still feels motivated enough or if he feels he's taken the team as far as he can. They've dominated the league, only thing missing is the CL title. After 6 years of failing to win it, he may feel its better for him to leave. as he doesn't know what he can do from here for them.
Looking at the team, I feel the issue isn't the first one, so I feel if he leaves at the end of this season, its because he doesn't think he can take them any further and probably losing some motivation himself.

Doesnt get any better than this, to watch Haaland score the hattrick in the Manchester derby, with his father celebrating Foden proving himself in this game too, basically every MAn C player were so good, whilte Man U players couldnt compete. Credit to them they still scored 3 though, so its typical Man C n u just get the feeling that type of slackness in conceding goals again might cost them the CL?

I for one think hes an absolute moron for not choosing a 2nd tier team just to prove himself to his doubters.. Since it is well known that everyone chooses the worst paid option when choosing their next job

I clearly said money wasn't the only factor at play though The current standing of the team and the type of ownership/management are just as important for him. For instance, I don't see Pep ever taking on a risky rebuilding project like current United or Liverpool back when Klopp joined. I also don't see him working in an environment like PSG where one CL blunder would spell the end for his tenure. He's very risk averse, which has worked tremendously well for him so far.

Re: 2022/2023 Premier League Discussion
Btw, watching some of the post match comments n this thing about Ten Hag not using CR at all this match due to not 'wanting to disrespect his status' Whats everyone's take on this? I thought it was a joke at first but apparently some ppl do think like that?
Keane arguing with Micah Richards is pretty funny, but it seems the comments ppl agree with Keane? Cant help but feel hes a real dinosaur though, he still thinks in todays game a top team can have a striker who does nothing apart from scoring goals Especially vs Man C.

You think other coaches choose worse teams/environments because they want the challenge or because they just lack options?

Re: 2022/2023 Premier League Discussion
Not watched the 3-3 but pretty sure big part of Liverpool is still just oppositions attacking behind TAA n Klopp hasnt been able to counter this? Why not? It must have been countless games Liverpool conceded goals n lost many points based on this? To the point that Im starting to think the negatives outweighs the positives to TAA? No wonder hes not in the NT? Any thoughts?

Klopp turned down Bayern multiple times, even stating that it would have been the "easier" route Tuchel also opted for PSG instead of Bayern despite both teams offering comparable compensation. Conte took a huge risk by joining Spurs, a team that hasn't won anything in decades, when he could have easily waited for another opening.
So I'd say yes, there are a lot of elite managers who take more risks than Guardiola.

Turning down Bayern has more to do with the overpowered board and little say in transfers than it being too "easy"
