Gavi
16 year old but already seems better than Alena, Puig and probably Moriba too.
Can 16 yo be promoted or need to be 17?

Re: Gavi
reminds me of Thiago a little actually, only better and faster + superior dribbler
Gavi also sounds almost like Xavi which means is he destined to succeed.

Re: Gavi
I dont think he will get promoted. I mean, just because of his age and he already skipped a level already to join Barca B.
I expect he will play with Barca B and if he get another injury crisis or shortage of players (Pedri overuse, no Wijnaldum signing) he will be thrown into the fire.
Looks like a very high level talent. In such a short time I am far more convinced by him than I ever was with Alena or Puig.

Re: Gavi
Super impressive against Stuttgart. Looks a legit talent. I wouldnt be surprised if he gets first team opportunities. Koeman has shown that he is not afraid of throwing youngsters in at the deep end.
With Moriba continuing to behave like an idiot, Gavi could get his minutes. Which were pretty significant towards the end of last season.

Re: Gavi
The rumor is he will be a backup to Pedri so that he finally gets some rest after a looong season + olympics.
Pjanic will probably leave so a spot opens up anyway.
Hes that old school barca type, always look for a one-touch pass and immediately positions himself to receive one back. Doesnt seem like a goalscoring mid, more like an Iniesta type

Re: Gavi
Love how he plays, always positions himself properly so he can turn into space easily. He has been taught well.
Him and Nico are impressive talents. The RB game was horrific, unwatchable at times and the 2 youngsters had some difficulties but the talent is obvious.

Re: Gavi
Yep, he is being overworked just like Pedri was.
Lets start a 17 year old in back to back competitive international games just a few days after a game against Atletico. Absolutely atrocious management from Enrique and the Spanish FA. Shame on Koeman and Laporta as well. They should be pressuring Koeman and the FA.
Third year in a row. Fati, Pedri and now Gavi. Fati suffered a year on the sidelines. Pedri out with back to back muscle injuries.

Re: Gavi
That being said, what a performance
17 years old. Playing against the world champions 2 days after a starring role against the European champions. Showed he could hang with the best against the European champions. Key question was could he hang back to back in a final no less against the world champions.
In hindsight, I guess there was no doubt. He showed he could hang with the best. Not just hang but play lights out. Thought he was arguably the best player on the pitch along with Busquets till he was substituted. There was a 30 second moment of play around the 17th minute. Made a mockery of Pogba around the halfway line and left him for dust. Then moves forward and left Kimpembe for dust with a smart turn around the edge of the box.
Take a bow son. We have got a football player on our hands

Can't believe we found Gavi one year after finding Pedri. Two elite elite talents practically for free in back to back years when we are going through a financial crisis.

Re: Gavi
Outstanding game against Sweden. How the hell can he play that well at 17?
Any top midfielder would have been proud of that game including his new manger Xavi. And I see a lot of resemblances to Xavi in Gavi's game.
The first and most obvious is that like Xavi, Gavi's head is constantly on a swivel. He is constantly looking around. This means he knows where the space is, where to turn when he gets the ball. As a consequence, his positioning is already very good at such a young age. Like Xavi, always in space between the lines to receive the ball. And then once he receives the ball, always turns into space with the first touch. Outstanding first touch like Xavi and shields the ball well. Also has a great engine like Xavi.
Reason why I am super positive about our future unlike a lot of Barca fans.
We are loaded in talented teenagers who are mature far beyond their years.
Also props has to go to Bartomeu for the current generation of La Masia players. Fati, Gavi, Moriba and Nico. 4 top top talents who have all made th step up. Also, Pedri who is not through the youth system. Still, Barto signed him.

Re: Gavi
Props to bartomeu? These youngsters came up in spite of him, not because of him
Nico, Pedri and Gavi are very, very promising. Best midfield talents we had since Thiago Alcantara. That'll be about 10 years now

Re: Gavi
I think I disagree. Over the past decade, there has been focus on the physical side of the game at La Masia along with the technical. Hence why our recent graduates like Fati, Nico, Moriba, Gavi are all physically and technically good.
Changes to the youth system take time to effect. not to mention the work done by Pimienta and other coaches to develop the young talents. All of whom were Barto appointments.
I think its a bit unfair to not give him atleast some credit. You dont get 4 elite top tier talents like Gavi, Nico, Fati and Moriba inspite of Barto.
Yes, he messed up our financials by giving outrageous salaries to first teamers. But credit where it is due.

Forgot Araujo as well. Not to mention Mingueza although he is not the same calibre of talent.

Re: Gavi
From a NT perspective, I can’t tell the difference between Gavi and Pedri. Both have played outstanding with maturity / calmness under pressure at such a young age and both have played same position. At times, I have wondered if Pedri had changed his name!

Re: Gavi
Unbelievable player. Better than I thought and I already thought he was exceptional.
Gavi, Pedri and De Jong midfield simply needs to happen as soon as can be. These 3 in a few years with true coaching and a functional team play rings around anyone.

Tough question which I just don't have the answer to.
Gavi also more fresh in the mind as we have not seen a full speed Pedri since the Euros for Spain.

I still think it’s the same guy using two different names playing same position! Tell me have Gavi and Pedri ever been on the field at the same time?

Re: Gavi
I do think there are differences. I see shades of Xavi in Gavi which I don't in Pedri.
Pedri plays more off the ball than Gavi.
Pedri is certainly more ambidextrous and has tow equally good feet. Gavi is ambidextrous too though not to the same extent as Pedri.
Pedri is also a better dribbler although unfortunately he has cut it out of his game.
Tough one to call this one. The third one in the trio Nico is not too shabby himself.
