Even now, Leao gets an excellent ball from D. Maldini, and then does nothing with it.

Simply put, this the team playing to their abilities, which are lacking in terms of Leao, Samu, and Hague.

Just now, D. Maldini wastes a chance (he could have passed to Diaz).

Congratulation to Juve.

Well deserved. I think the match was well-balanced until Juve scored the third goal. It was a great match for neutrals as well.

MOTM: Chiesa, Scezny, and McKennie for Juve.
Donarumma, Cala, and Calabria for Milan.

For the future, if Juve win against Sassuolo and Inter, I expect them to gather steam and win the Scudetto. For Milan, anything other than a win in their next match, and their mentality will be shot (even CL cannot be taken for granted this season).

Honestly, I think Milan's issues are beyond any coaching, and is squarely due to the players themselves. Simply put, Hauge, Diaz, and Samu are not the caliber of players who can star against teams like Juve. Leao may be so, but his mentality and decision making is limited.

Honestly, we were missing Rebic in this match specifically, and Theo plays much better with Rebic on his line.

Pioli didn't belive we could come back since the 82nd minute, which is why he put in the youngsters to get some experience.

Then then proceeded to create more chances in the final 10 minutes than we created in the previous 10.

Also, even if we somehow got a second goal after the 85th minute, this Juve team has the discipline and experience to shut us down for the rest of the match.

The only reason they were open at the end is that they were trying to score a fourth.

Agree Spencer.

This Milan is as well coached as a team can be. The difference tonight was the players. Its also why I agreed with M99 on Papu in the other thread, a bit more quality pushes this Milan over the edge.

Donnarumma is an obvious certainty, but was particularly surprised by Calabria and Calhanoglu. Calabria plays like he can do anything nowadays and Calhanoglu was class every time he touched the ball. He is peaking.

Chiesa is our clear motm. Was unplayable until the injury(?). The defenders were great except Frabotta. Bentancur, Ramsey, and Ronaldo the only players that didn't shine. Szczesny was a beast, as was Dybala, Kulusevski, and Rabiot. McKennie and Arthur were great subs.

TBF to Milan, the two teams are not playing with the same ambitions. Milan is hoping for a top 4 finish, and are over-performing. Juve expects to get a 10th title in a row, and are under-performing.

In the same window, they get Chiesa, one of the best young Italian talents in the last couple of years, we get Hauge in a cheap deal through our data analysis team. Sure, Hauge may develop into a world-class talent, but he is not the type of player to push a team into winning. He was anonymous all game (Diaz should have started, I personally never understood the Hauge infatuation within the Milan fanbase).

Regardless, there is still 45 minutes for us to find something to complain (or celebrate about).

Yes, Rabiot was running backwards and barreled with his back into Calhanoglu

Hernandez put his studs on Chiesa's ankle in the third minute. Could have easily been a red, but I would have settled for a yellow, so he would calm the fuck down. It didn't happen, so five minutes later he decided to knee Chiesa in the back at a jump ball

Some awful 1v1 defending by our defenders today. Maldini needs to sit them down and make them watch his tapes on how to defend 1v1. Absolute shambles.

Romagnoli is really starting to get on my nerves this season, i was hopeful that he would shore up his personal defending. The guy ball watches 90% of the time and doesn't commit to a tackle, i hope Leonardo picks him up for 70m or something. We really need a solid guy for Theo's flank, besides Kessie, a CB should bolster it as well. Who's a good left footed CB nowadays? Is Upamecano on the market?

For as much as that game felt good, Milan are still 1st, and we are still 7 points off. The * meaning one game played less.

Milan 37
Inter 36
Roma 33
Juve 30*
Sassuolo 29
Atalanta 28*
Napoli 27*
Lazio 25

We play Sassuolo, Genoa (CI), Inter, and Napoli (SC) within 10 days

Milan has the easiest run with 3 homes games including Torino twice and Cagliari. Expect them to win those 3 matches in a row before an interesting match vs Atalanta.

Inter has Roma, Fiore (CI), Juve, Udinese.

Juve and Inter will surely drop points, Milan should extend their lead this month.

We have 0 squad depth, something that title-winning teams have, we are also in an injury crisis.

Inter can bring on Eriksen, Perisic, Sanchez, Sensi, Bastoni etc

Juve can bring on Arthur, Kulusevski, McKennie, Morata, Demiral, etc

We can bring on Krunic, Kalulul, Maldini, Colombo, Conti, etc

I've said it countless times before, we dont have the depth of a title-winning team, i am optimistic of top 4 but the Scudetto is a tough stretch

but not even Inter have it.
Defence collapses whenever it misses a starter since reverse are shit. Bastoni is a starter, his back-up is Kolarov and derby was enough.

Attack misses of a vice-Lukaku. If Lukaku is injured, Inter lose at Sampdoria. Milan 've won matches even without Ibra.

Eriksen is leaving, Sanchez is inconsistent and injury prone, Vidal was flop,  Sensi is the only good back-up but incredibly injury prone

Anyway we all agree that if Juve had an average coach ( average, not even good)  there were not discussions for the title.

Dam, yesterday Kulusevski Arthur Beranrdeschi entered on pitch and just because Morata was missing .

Best roster by far, but it's soon to say they are going to win it again.
They miss of consistency under Pirlo.
You win leagues through consistency.

For now the table was right. Milan deserved 1st place, Inter 2nd  , Roma 3th.
Because they were consistent.
Juve under Pirlo are same team that win big matches away but then lose 0-3 against Fiorentina , 1-1 at Crotone and Benevento.
We'll realize in next match if yesterday was the turning point of their season or not

Our turning point of the season already happened, it was against Benevento. After losing those points the teams attitude has changed.

In the 9 matches since we have had 1 bad match, against Fiorentina. The Atalanta match was good, we were surely the better team and a draw with them is not a bad result. 7 wins with 23 goals scored, the atalanta draw, and the Fiore loss. It is enough to go at this pace, it gets us to 93 points.

Problem is that we have a -7 point handicap to overcome now.

As much as you guys want to complain about depth or quality, Milan and Inter are going at an outstanding pace. Inter is not stopping. Milan we'll see now the response after the loss but I don't think it will matter. Ibra will be back along with the rest of the players, the worst is behind for Milan in terms of the squad.

Simply put, Milan is not built to win the league as well as compete in Europa and Coppa Italia.

Chiesa by himself (once everything is compiled) costs more than the sum of Milan's last two transfer windows.

Inter, and I agree with Robes that they don't actually have much depth (not for a lack of spending), have also spent considerably in order to win the league, and they no longer have European duties.

Still, the next month is crucial. I think that if Juve wins against both Sassuolo and Inter (and Milan loses any point in their next games including Atalanta) then they will simply steamroll the league. Ideally, whatever team is going to win against Juve should be at least with a four-point advantage at all times. In point of talent and economy, the rest of Serie A is not competing in the same league.

Milan are as well-coached as they can be, and playing with a lot of spirit, but that won't give you titles if you lack the quality to consistently finish chances and snuff the opportunities against you.

Meanwhile Roma are -4 from Milan , they can reach Inter on 2nd place if they won next match at home and they 've a point detucted for this story
