Re: Jadon Sancho to Man United
Well its a common yet usually correct assessment that most Bundesliga players that don't come from Bayern usually turn out to be frauds.
We've learned the hard way obviously

For taking you (and to some extension Viva's) praise on Bundesliga players seriously or in general?
I swear, I wish I could find ES' post on the Bundesliga players that were, um, less than glorious when they made the jump elsewhere.

Re: Jadon Sancho to Man United
I really liked sancho at dortmund, but this is just my 2 cents- he wont make much of an impact at united. He is still very very young and has time, but cant really see him get any better. He is going to be very restricted in growth under ole and southgate

Come off it.
Sancho is being outperformed by freaking Jessie Lingard
Not saying this will be the norm, but it is ridiculous to think everything is fine with his performance.

Re: Jadon Sancho to Man United
Hans, wouldn't he do better at City, Chelsea or hell perfectly at Liverpool? At United, it would have worked before but now they have to cross and the wings need to touch the byline for Ronaldo. I do not think that is something Sancho is good at, I actually think Dan James would have enjoyed playing with that fixed no9. What do you think as a Bundesface?
Lingard looks like nearly 20 times than Sancho right now purely because he fits into the system.

Re: Jadon Sancho to Man United
Even before he joined Man United, I would've imagined that he'd struggle with not having the general freedom he had at Dortmund, largely under Julian Favre, who got sacked when Sancho was out of form, and to a lesser extent under Edin Terzic.
I'm absolutely with Hans in believing that he's a very talented player, he wasn't hyped up for absolutely no reason, but for me, his most brilliant moments always occurred when he was at the center of attention, as opposed to being a cog in a larger machine.
When he could hog the ball to the point that it looked like everything went through him, fire a million shots from outside of the box that occasionally went in, or focus on finding forwards with his infrequent, but often brilliant passes that created chances out of nothing - that's when he had a tendency to shine.
I think he had a very privileged role at Dortmund, and I can't imagine any other team or manager of a top club being willing to risk that level of tactical or positional deviation by counting on him to deliver the goods every week. I do think he's been operating as a sort of jack of all trades, who doesn't seem to know whether he's a classic winger, a playmaker, or an inside forward. I haven't seen any other Dortmund player being allowed that level of freedom.
He often seemed to have the freedom to do whatever his impulses told him to do at Dortmund, and I believe that privilege allowed him to shine more frequently. I suspect he would become quite an unpopular figure in the dressing room at Man United, if he had attempted to do the same thing there.
I think I described him as a poor man's Cristiano Ronaldo with his tendency to attempt long shots and occasionally attempt to do everything on his own. He's actually playing with Cristiano Ronaldo now. That shit's not going to fly anymore

Lingard: 6.78; 2 goals
Sancho: 6.07; not even a yellow card

He's an attacking player. He would perform well if his team did some attacking.

Re: Jadon Sancho to Man United
Unreal, just wild that United splashed €90m for this faker, and people were questioning Southgate for not starting him in the Euros, and yet another Bundesposer strikes again, when will clubs learn?
Cant imagine being a United fans these days..with Ole signed until 2024,Hakan Bruno's dwindling penalty count, year 900 of Fred/Mctominay starting games weekly.
I guess they were banking on Kommander to have a galvanizing effect like Ozil when he joined Arsenal, but it seems players were more concerned with a) Lingaed rapping , b) Pogba tik toks, c) And Rashford donating pens and crayons to deprived foster children so they calculate how the fuck Wank Bissanka was a £75m signing

United are like a guy who was told he had bad breath and went on to by premium French perfume to cover it. There were so many options which were far more cheap and better but they went for expensive and useless one.

I stand corrected, but it seemed to me that GL, as well as a good part of the internet had the same expectations that you mention. Wasn't there recently a discussion on here about how the transfers of Sancho, CR7 and Varane meant that Man United have no excuse if they don't win the league? I'm not going to go out of my way to locate and quote these posts and discussions, but the general opinion seems to be about as conveniently superficial and silly as you make it sound with this post.

It's an impossible situation for him. You have Bruno and Pogba as the creators... CR as the finisher. Sancho cannot play winger. Just cannot unless it's a David Silva type of role (which it is absolutely not at Man U).
I blame just the awful team building by Man U. None of them know a thing about football it seems.

Re: Jadon Sancho to Man United
Coherent attacking because Utd attacks. Just, I cannot figure out exactly what Ole really wants from his lads.
Sometimes I get the impression neither can the players. Either way, first season should be a write off for Sancho as any sane and reasonable fan should not have expected much from him.
Also, he'll never get that free role at Utd unless he can perform in this limited role. I'm sorry, he simply does not have the clout to have such a privilege, no matter how talented he is (and you can tell he can be a proper baller).

Re: Jadon Sancho to Man United
So, apparently Sky Germany showed this:
Which i found funny, except for the fact that they omitted the fact that he is the same Sancho that ruined Bundesliga and fooled the world into thinking he's decent, thanks to stellar performances against Meincraft and FC Schneiderlin.
Joke of a league
