Spanish Super Cup Discussions
So it's time to fly alllllll the way to Saudi Arabia to play two useless games (if we get past Valencia)
On one hand, it could be a good indication to see how well Zidane does in knockout games again, which could be a good indicator to see how this team plays in time for the City game later on
On the other hand, we have Sevilla straight after we get back. Is it really wise to go all in, considering our injury record? Don't think so
The fact that ZZ rested Valverde and Rodrygo and took out Isco and Kroos early sort of tells us how serious he is taking this cup
Valencia are a very difficult team who are one of our bogey teams. Would much prefer Atleti who never create any chances tbh. Valencia have most of their injured players back, wr are starting to get ours back too which is good news for the CL.
Hazard though, isn't even close to getting back. His injury is a mystery. But we have done relatively well without him
Probable line up:
I think with Casemiro back and Valverde moved up to the CM we'll do even better against than we did last time when Valverde had to play CDM to save Casemiro from suspension. Biggest question marks are up top as usual. Rodrygo isn't effective enough for me, Vini has a brick for a brain and Bale is terrible. We could perhaps try out Jovic and have us play long balls to him for him fight with Paulista for who is a walking red card machine

You said it yourself, it's useless. I hope we lose to Valencia and go home.
No point in wasting time and energy over this mickey mouse cup.

Your tiny brain fails to understand the enormous morale devastation that would cause.
How old are you? 5 ?
This is an Important game.
You don't see Barca fans saying this kid of shitt.... but ofcourse, clowns like you would say this.

Re: Spanish Super Cup Discussions
It's not an important game but at the same time, it has some merit to it. Not because of the trophy but more to do with the profiling. If this were in Spain, no one is gonna start their full team but because it's in another country, Madrid would profile itself (despite already being a world renowned club). So would Valencia and they'll be playing Madrid as if it were a league match.
Not exactly a fan of this new format but I expect Madrid to be their usual professional self and not start an entire U21 side like other teams.

Trophy is a trophy so let's try to win it and give the other players some game time, good moral boost all round.

Re: Spanish Super Cup Discussions
I agree it would do wonders for the confidence if we were able to win this tournament, no matter how insignificant it is for us fans. When Juve lost to Lazio, Ronaldo was visibly pissed and took off his medal as soon as he was given it. Nobody wants to be a loser. We have drawn against all 3 rivals, time to turn draws into wins. This tournament will be a good start no matter how little we care about winning it
Us losing every competition in the same week last season is a good example of what could happen if confidence gets shattered after losing against our rivals.
We went against Barca in the Copa on the back of an impressive run. Went there dominated them, still lost. Then we started playing progressively worse because the players lost confidence in their own abilities. By the time we played Ajax in the return leg we were done mentally. Alot of that is on Solari (Booo Hala) but still this is a very good example of what could potentially happen if we decide to throw the games
Not to mention Marca and AS will get their knives out that they have been sharpening since October waiting for the moment we fall down

Re: Spanish Super Cup Discussions
AS maybe, but Marca? I disagree. They always struck me as an unbelievably biased newspaper who rarely ever put Madrid to the sword and tend in most cases to serve as the board's mouthpiece.
AS is a different story. They have a long-running beef with Florentino and they wouldn't hesitate twice to burn Madrid to the ground if it meant Florentino leaving his job.
As for the supercopa, I respect your opinion hala, and I agree that it would boost our confidence considerably if we won it. However, I still maintain that it's a meaningless trophy and I would rather we focused on more important ones.

Re: Spanish Super Cup Discussions
Exactly, AS have a clear agenda vs who is running Madrid now. Since they are in conflict they are also not getting a single piece of exclusive info about real Madrid right now, it's been going on for years so they look for controversy everywhere they can. Like the Reinier transfer, it leaked out in Brazil but in Spain it's Marca and even JLS (first actually) that put a stamp on it

Re: Spanish Super Cup Discussions
Why they couldn't keep the supercup in the preseason and make it one game is beyond me. Oh well, I guess money talks.
Its another competition, so I hope we do well and leave with no injuries.

Rodrigo out of the Super Copa. That's 90% of their attack. Time to unleash Marcelo. Out left side will be safe withour Rodrigo there

And just like that Benz is out. Our top scorer
Time to unleach Thicc boy. He hasn't gotten many chances but this is the time for him to convince ZZ to play more, even playing alongside Benz in the Zdiamond. I want goals from him. I will expect nothing less
In other welcomed news. Bale is out with whatever it is he is feeling discomfort in. We will be playing with 11 players again. Great!

Benzema plays alot he can sit this out and let jovic get a run maybe score a couple goals, can't risk bale too much especially for this, good call to leave them out.

Re: Spanish Super Cup Discussions
The article that said Benz and Bale were out, stated the options for forwards were (only) Rodrygo, Vinicius or Jovic. That’s after it also as reported that Rodrygo was out. I understand Brahim is also included so wouldn’t he also be an option? Then there also is Lucas and James available.
No matter who plays, a lot of you are getting your wish of starting a B team?
Given the copa competition this year is a one game knockout format, this revised super cup may turn out to be the extra games for the B squad!

Can't see how your this hard on bale when isco is the definition of not contributing, So is vini for that matter, atleast bale being injury prone is an good excuse, when he is on form and confident, he 10 times the player and contributor as those two, Zz started messing with guy and just like James they haven't been the same since.
You only hate bale cause he is not technically gifted, which is something that way over blown after pep barca, look at case prime example of a great player that gets looked down upon for not spending half the game doing useless shit, like turning in a circle 20 times to just pass back to ramos like isco.

Re: Spanish Super Cup Discussions
Hard on Bale??????
The only thing he is good for is goals and he hasn't scored since September. OUT!!
He is absolutely useless in every other category. Feels like we play a man less with him in the XI. Him being out is the best thing for both parties, he can continue fine tuning his golfing skills and we can play at full power
You'd have to understand football to comprehend what Isco brings to the table. So best not to mention him
Vinicius is an exciting player. He has terrible shots and decision making which is his undoing or he would be a nailed on starter right now. I hope he gets better at them, with games like these, he will get better and better.

for someone who says nobody knows anything about football, this is ridiculous. the first thing about sports or a job is reliability. how many bosses do you hear say "oh that guys is such an amazing worker, when he shows up". the first step is actually showing up. this isn't a part time job, its one thing to be injured, it happens. but being injury prone is not a complimentary feature of any athlete

ZZ's remedy for our lack of goals... ....play even more midfielders
Poor Jovic, will have to watch while the midfielders play the ball between them from side to side

Not really feeling the lineup. Width will be non existant, but if the service to Jovic is right, we will be fine.
Vini and Rodrygo should come in for Isco and Modric if we are losing
