curious though, if we do end up signing SMS, is it because Pogba is leaving? do you think they could work in the same midfield?

we're 100% buying another midfielder this summer and that's with Pogba staying, 2 minimum if he leaves.

Also be curious to see what we do with Lukaku in terms of replacements. It's possible Ole sees Rashford/Martial as starting material at CF but I absolutely do not.

Nice fantasy you got there but it is pretty obvious SMS is seen as Pogba's replacement. Still a lot of time to make a move. Don't forget you yourself signed Pogba just before PL was about to start so I wouldn't write this off just yet. Madrid are looking to cash in on all their surplus before making a move or so it appears.

Bruno Fernandes/Longstaff and SMS. Your two likely midfield replacements if Pogba were to leave.

Ideally we keep him as 4th-5th CB in the depth chart. One of Demiral-Romero would go on loan to develop, the other will remain as back-up. 5 CBs is correct since Chiellini is often injured in late season, also don't scratch the possibility that we play 3 at the back sometimes.

Rugani counts as club-trained, and he has the advantage of accepting a bench role for years, he's used to it. That said if a reasonable offer comes in and he wants the move i don't think we'll hold on to him.

What I don't understand is why with Bayern Munich, which has 3 times our budget, they agreed a loan deal, but they ask us to pay 42 millions. If James could arrive on loan, it would allow me to also sign someone else. If I have to choose between James and another player, who would also cost more, I have to choose the other player because he would also be younger.

So we're all set for center backs no need to sell someone unless he asks to leave the club. 5 CBs including 3 quite young is stacked enough without overkill, i think all five of them will get minutes
