Jill Ellis getting a lot of heat for her lineup in that narrow win against Spain. Horan should've started, though our midfield was pretty good so I have very little issues with that. Alex Morgan, as good as she is, was not fully fit and never should've been left out there for 80+ minutes. Spain did an excellent job of breaking up Rapinoe's game and reducing her influence to just the 2 penalties. Sauerbrunn had a rough time of it against Spain's passing and movement. Naeher looks to have failed her first major test as Hope Solo's successor.  Really would've preferred to see Jess McDonald get a chance up front. She's the type of forward that would've relished a battle with those Spanish defenders. On evidence, I have to give France the edge right now. Unless Ellis gets our lineup right, we'll be be going out in the next round.

Spain were impressive and have been all tournament. They have grown exponentially in a very short time so it sucks that they've gone out. They will be a future world power in the women's game if they keep this up. Real Madrid creating a women's team comes at exactly the right time for them.

I actually think most of the surprise came from Spain being better than expected. They took it easy with back passes, which led to their equalizer and the pressure they put on them. Same mistake wont happen against France.

Agreed. France were resilient against Brazil. I think that trait is the one I fear most as we come up against them. I feel like we need an combative attacker up front against Renard as she's perhaps the best CB in the women's game right now.
