As long as Lonzo and Jrue take turns at bringing up the ball. Obviously Zion will also get those opportunities.

Before the trade happened he was talking about how the Lakers wouldn't have good enough assets to compete with Boston.

Now he says we got fleeced and that Boston could never compete with our assets.

The shitting on the Lakers is real. It's wild considering we've been the worst team in the league the past 7 years

I'm so fucking happy for Mole he got our package though. Pelicans will play some fucking wild ass basketball this year and they're by far the League Pass team to watch. Zion, Lonzo and Ingram. Not a more entertaining trio in the league.

That trade not going through in february was huge for both teams really.

It was this for AD: Ingram, Ball, Kuzma, Hart, Zubac, 2 firsts, and taking on the contract of Hill.

This would've cost us the third max player (I think we'll get Kemba tbh) while also losing Kuzma who's a good 6th man.

Pelicans got bad enough to secure Zion while they also got our pick because we turned shit, something AD could've prevented had he joined us.

Great for both sides that Demps and Magic fucked it up

I feel like Lakers got the better deal, but it's contingent on AD re-signing (which he will). Since he will, I think Lakers got the better side.

But it's useless trying to determine who "won" anyway. The Kyrie deal also looked like a fleece but it has been the undoing of Boston. If Ingram and Lonzo turn into superstars then Pelicans will feel good. We know what Lakers are getting of course.

Regardless, it was the best deal for the Pels. It seems like Boston was unwilling to include Tatum, and NY have shit. Who else had a chance, anyway? So they kind of had to go with the Lakers.

Jrue-Ingram-Lonzo-Zion is exciting. It lacks shooting, and I would assume that that lineup isn't the starting unit (perhaps I'm wrong). However, any number of those players together can be a nightmare defensively. With this core, I can see the Pelicans being a real nuisance to play against.

Jrue-Lonzo on defense is salivating on its own. Meanwhile Ingram is long and Zion is one of the great athletes to come out of the draft. I, too, can't wait to see the Pelicans next year.

What people need to understand is the difference between this deal and the one proposed at the deadline is we got the no 4 pick.

That's a pretty big difference, plus if we took that deal then we never would have got Zion and Lakers wouldn't have tanked enough to get the no 4 pick.

That's two sizable assets we wouldn't have had plus the Lakers core, which make it a significantly better deal for us than it was then.

I knew the minute we got Zion and Lakers got the no 4 pick that the likelihood of us dealing with the Lakers increased massively.

Top-8 protected in 2021, becomes unprotected in ‘22
Unprotected swap in ‘23
Unprotected first in ‘24
Unprotected swap in ‘25

A clarification on the haul of draft picks heading the Pelicans' way. The 2021 pick goes to New Orleans if it's in the top eight, if not they'll get an unprotected first in 2022. Swap in 2023. Unprotected first in 2024, with a right to defer to 2025.
