Absolutely appalling. Countries where you would think these thing would never happen. First New Zealan and now Sri Lanka. Terrorism really is the biggest issue in today's world

This is horrible. It's maddening how this continues to happen every Easter. You'd think authorities around the world would be at the highest alert levels during this time.

They had a decade long civil war between Buddhists and Hindus and now apparently for whatever reasons the Islamists want to get a piece of the violence cake

Re: At least 138 dead in Sri Lanka blasts as seventh explosion reported
I think it's a bit different (and complicated) than that. Sri Lanka has been experiencing political instability for some years due to rivalry between the present and the previous Presidents. I think they were so obsessed with getting better over one another, it created a huge lapse in the administration (specially the security apparatus) and someone just took advantage than that. You will understand that in our part of the world security forces/intelligence is primed to deter the political threats of the ruling circle rather than being vigilant against real security issues.Hapless_Hans wrote:Doc wrote:Jeez, all that carnage and for what? This is absolutely unbelievable. One of the worst attacks in recent times.
This is the best era to live in but god we have such a long to go.
Look at this picture, if anything this shows the worlds priorities. Only India and Indonesia exceeding searches for Sri Lanka compared to Notre Dame

7 more searches for Notre Dame vs 1 search for Sri Lanka

The Easter Sunday terror attacks in Sri Lanka that killed at least 321 people could have been prevented if key intelligence had been passed on correctly, the prime minister has admitted.
this is what pisses me off the most. how many times after a terror attack do we hear the same shit. most of the people that have committed atcks in britain were on watch lists ffs. if a person gets up one day and decides there and then to kill people theres nothing anyone can do but most of the attacks are done by people they know.

I think since the info came from abroad.
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/22/world/asia/ntj-warning-sri-lanka-government.html
India warned them twice before the attack. We even told them in January that they had stocked up on weapons.
https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/sri-lanka-attack-india-warned-sri-lanka-of-threat-2-hours-before-suicide-attacks-report-2027552
This article says we warned them 2 hours before the attack.
I know we have established a great foothold on terror since the early 2000s with attacks only limited to Kashmir now but this is crazy. How can you not act on this?

Europe is much much worse off, imagine harboring them when you know they can pull the trigger any time.

Good day to everyone
I condemn these attacks.
These extreme groups always gave bad images to Islam.
Violence is not a solution,
especially towards a peaceful civilian.

IS have become the Harry Kane of islamist terrorists tbh
Claiming goals when they clearly didn't actually touch the ball
People call it the Harry Kane team but ultimately they can achieve stuff without him just as well

The bodies of 15 people, including six children, have been discovered at the site of a fierce gun battle between soldiers and suspects linked to the Easter Sunday bombings in Sri Lanka, a military spokesman has said.
