Navas was actually very very solid imo. Don't know why Madrid tinkered with the position they least needed to.

The loss of Ronaldo may be part of the reason, but he was getting older, just like our other veterans that are still starters. We don't have a lot of depth, to be fair. We've gradually sold players that thanklessly provided depth for us, and brought in players that may or not pay off in the long run. A good deal of our starters clearly don't have the pace, stamina and general fitness that they once had, but evidently they're still rated just as highly by many, since they won the Champions League only last season.

Flo should bring in Wenger. Wenger worked wonder with worse scrubs.

Probably because they saw a rare opportunity to get Courtois for cheap, as opposed to having to buy an expensive, younger backup in the not so distant future.

That on Flo lucifer Navas just isn't hyped enough for him. Thibu is a good keeper but he just seems awkward playing with us slow and clunky, Navas needs to be starting he sweeps a lot of the mistake the CBS make while Thibu is too slow to do anything other than make saves.

Thimmy true the team lacks pace and depth, but it's more to it than that it's the style of play and decision making that destroying the season tbh,too many players dwell on the ball too much, wasting runs and chances, when the team plays quick they create quality chances, when you a have players like asensio and isco getting so many touches in key areas they slow down the game too much, same with modric, Marcelo and carvajal(shit) at times, some players need to gtfo and reshape the team dynamics

Why would anyone pass to Benzema anyway? Who in their right mind would have confidence in Benzema to score? The guy is almost a guaranteed miss waiting to happen.

Isco has been pretty crap but so has been all of Madrid, so really unfair to put the blame on him. He has quality and has proved it.

What I don't get, is if Barca is playing a slow midfielder as RB, why not put Bale as a LW instead of equally slow Isco? No way Sergi would be able to do anything going forward worrying about Bale's speed. That alone would change everything imo, with Vasquez as the RW and Mariano as your starting CF. Would change the dynamic completely to your attack and how we approach them. With Ron gone, I thought Bale would finally slot back to his natural LW role, but instead ya'll add midfielders to that spot with Isco or Ascenio. Better off benching Kroos if you need to start one of those 2 as oppose to playing them as wingers. It's like when Barca did the same with Iniesta as a LW; it worked sometimes but seriously limited his strengths and was just stupid in the long run to not slot him back to the midfield.

I thought we played brilliantly first half. Controlled the ball and the game. Excellent movement and exposed Nacho on their right all half. So not sure why we decided to play for the 2-0 in the second half. Granted the tactical switch Madrid made by switching to 3 and bringing on Lucas made a difference but we definitely backed off. It took us 15 minutes to start attacking again. Great sub by Valverde to bring on Semedo. That freed Roberto to go on his runs from deep which is what he is really good at. And then he brings on Dembele to expose Madrid down the left. Good tactical changes by Valverde to respond to Madrid's change. We played on the counter attack after that and destroyed them. It is not my favorite way of play. I would much rather play the way we did first half but fair play. Once more, we prove that we can play well and win well against the best without Messi.

On Madrid, shocking performance especially from the midfield. Once more, Modric and Kroos get owned by our midfield. How may times has Rakitic owned Modric?
