I remember the days when PL fans were outraged because Pep said "We have players like Wilshere in our academy", which turned out to be an accurate statement and we even had plenty that ended up being much better like Thiago, but at the time was sacrilege.

Well it's bad either way because the media used to hype semi-talented players into oblivion but now there is no one who is even worth doing that for. It's a case of both.

There are the likes of Loftus-Cheek or Barkley even but they are both decent and nothing more.

Right now Dele Alli is on his own and even he isn't an elite talent or anything.

Otherwise Eriksen is GOAT which we know, and seeing Lamela piss off Fabregas was maybe the highlight of the match. Fabregas is such a whiney unlikeable pos

I don't think anyone has a problem with Alli and his talent, I certainly do have a problem with his thuggish scummy attitude on the field. Not that it really matters as long as keeps proving himself with these matches.

absolute mess of a National Team we are that people can even get the greenlight for articles like this

Sad that Alli and Dier are like the only notable English midfielders that are young now, future is incredibly bleak

inb4 a bunch of youth names that won that cup over the summer, seen that City guy play, looks terrible.

I don't rate Shelvey tbh but name one English CM who can pass it forward more than 5 yards?

I genuinely can't think of one, it's a shame he's so inconsistent because tbh he's the best passer in the country from that position easily tbh

Although that speaks louder of the English national team than it does of him tbh.

Dele Alli now has as many goals and assists in his first 100 Premier League games (61) as Eden Hazard had.

PHILLIP J FRYE MEME: Not sure if Alli is great of if Hazard is a fraud.

Actually scratch that, I'm pretty sure Hazard is a fraud

Dele I don't think is an elite talent, but people have been putting him down for a while now, too much so imo

His overall game does need improvement and he is inconsistent, but he's young, and those things will come in time. He does have very good instincts though, and he has magic in him as well. In time I think he'll figure it out. He's honestly still a bit confused positionally, as far as I'm concerned.

He's having a worse season than last year but he's still had a decent season. He's got 12 goals and 13 assists this year in 46 apps. For a young player, I love that return. Obviously it's the general play that's more frustrating with him, but that comes with maturity.

Shelvey is GOAT, I always liked how direct he was in his play during the time he played with us. Unfortuntely, he never got consistent playing time under a single manager.. first it was Woy, then KD, and BR had other plans. He was genuinely more talented than any of the other midfielders we had at the time but was a victim of not given enough playing time due to his recklessness and "not sideways passing" gameplay.

I hope we re-sign him. Would be a great option to have, especially under a manager like Klopp who fits his playstyle perfectly imo.

Goalkeeper mistake. That shot would not be a goal in 49/50 cases with a good GK.

Shelvey's issue isn't his technique, but his discipline and willingness to defend. The reason he's overlooked is because he can be lazy and ignore his defensive duties when he's playing in central midfield. As far as England goes, if the plan is to play with two CMs they can't afford to have one of them shirking his defending.

I don't buy into this thought.
It genuinely looked as if that ball was going over the bar, or at best hit the bar until it dipped at the last moment and even then shaved the bottom of the bar as it went in.

Yep, not to mention even when he does try his lack of fitness is a serious negative.

Sir Alan needs to become the coach of the English National team

It's clear club football has taken on a toll on him tbh. Maybe a lesser run of games will help him( and his team) prepare mentally.  Always believed in SAP. I think he deserves a more prestigious coaching position like the England NT.

So apparently Bradley Dack is the best player in league one. Plays for Blackburn as a Mid. Saw his stats and he has 17 goals in 36 apps from midfield ffs.

Can't wait till he is at Burnley
