It's my greatest regret to say....Ronaldo era is finished
Age is catching up to him. Gone from 98 acceleration to 84 at best. 96 sprint speed to 80 at best. Not as strong. Not as sharp.
He can't carry Madrid anymore.
Madrid's greatest mistake was to listen to Zidane and not go after Mbappe because he didn't want him.
Now there is no one left to carry the torch Ronaldo lit with his blood and tears. No one.

No shame in that. The greatest goalscorer that ever lived as far as I'm concerned. Age catches up to everyone.
As one chapter of his illustrious career closes..another inevitably opens.
I hope you will all look forward to 34% accuracy long balls from Matic & Fellaini for him to header next season.

Re: It's my greatest regret to say....Ronaldo era is finished
Yeah I agree. So many times he is one step too slow.
We now have the entire front line completely useless. Bale, Benz, now Ronaldo, Mayoral who never should be on this team and Lucas who is at best a versatile squad player.
Meanwhile the ones that they let go; Mariano and Morata are outperforming all of them in fact even better that the hyped Mbappe especially when including their NT performances.
You are quite right that this disaster lies with Zidane. He’s the one that wanted to continue with this same team, never having confidence in Morata nor Mariano.

Can't really blame him for anything. We bought him for 94m and he gave us a gold mine and an endless stream of magical moments and trophies. As a Madrid fan, I'll be forever grateful to him for everything he's done for the club.
I agree, Ronaldo is no longer the ruthless demon who terrorized defenses across Europe for 13 years. He's gotten old and it's only natural.
But my biggest fear is not him declining, it's the fact that we don't have anybody good enough to replace him with and that we'll be stuck with that joke for a CF Benzema and the other guy who has more injuries than goal.
You'll never find a striker out there with 1 goal per game ratio, and certainly nobody who can become Real Madrid's top scorer in 7 seasons.
The guy is quite simply irreplaceable.

When Juanfran beats you in a foot race, it might be time to go home and be a family man

Yeah, this is essentially it for Ronaldo. Even if he comes up, somehow, with the goods at the tail end of the season, I think he is definitely finished at the highest level. It happens and it is the natural order of things.
Even his first touch has gone down the drain.

His contract runs through summer 2021
there is nothing like an unbenchable finished player on your squad,

Ronaldo I think just came back from sort of injury and was not fully fit. Still though, we all laughed that day. Except Ronaldo of course

Re: It's my greatest regret to say....Ronaldo era is finished
He's just different... but can be just as deadly imo. The difference is that he needs service and proper setup now. He can't create danger, shots and plays on his own.
I love Modric, Kroos and Casemiro. But none of them bring creativity and chance creation on the attack. When you have an on-form WC attacking trio, it's not necessary. However now, we need it.
I won't even talk about that scrub Benzema. Asensio, however, has disappointed me. For a young player who should be hungry to prove himself, he's had a very tame year so far. Given his talent level and the glimpses of brilliance that we've seen, I expected a whole lot more.
In any case, the bottom line is that Ronaldo needs help and nobody is providing it. We shouldn't go after impossible dreams like neymar... but players like Hazard, Martial, Griezmann, Dybala, etc. should be on the radar. Waited a year too much to bring in the next generation of strikers... but we need to move on it now.
As far as the January window... Alexis Sanchez is the one I'd go after. He would be available for CL. Makes too much sense however. Heck, I'd make a run at Ozil too.

Last I checked, Isco plays. Shouldn't he provide all that?
Oh wait I forgot Isco is the most pointless top player in the history of top players, but for some reason noone ever calls him out.
You don't even mention him once...

Provide for Ronaldo? Uefa Refdrid has the best midfield, officials, and refs in the world, and you want to upgrade them to "provide"?
Btw Fakenaldo was finished couple years ago. Scoring offside goals against 10 men teams and getting easy draws doesn't make you any better. In intelligent mind that is.

Re: It's my greatest regret to say....Ronaldo era is finished
this is another argument in favour of what i think of Zidane, a completely clueless coach whose best strength is to be friends with the players.Hapless_Hans wrote:sportsczy wrote:He's just different... but can be just as deadly imo. If you have a team with the likes of Isco, Onions, Modric, etc... and you can't develop a buildup that generate chances by leveraging space and passing, then you are a clueless fck.
Betis walked into the Bernabeu and they schooled us. i think that's because Setien knows what he is doing as a coach, and Zidane just cross his fingers Ramos score a header

Re: It's my greatest regret to say....Ronaldo era is finished
Madrid creates chances, well, we certainly did prior to the Girona game. Our forwards are just bad. Sports, surprisingly, is making excuses for Ronaldo which, once again, is very surprising. Ronaldo had 2 legit chances to hit the target yesterday and each time, trapped the ball badly. He can't even out run old man Juanfran. Benzema is a no show. Bale doesn't exist.

Re: It's my greatest regret to say....Ronaldo era is finished
As I keep saying, its gotta do with him matching Messi for the Ballon D'or, and nature is balancing itself out now Of course add to his age, and Madrid naturally dipping after the last few seasons. Would be so good to see his downfall if it happens, eventually, but sooner the better Definitely dont see him staying at Real if he does start to dip.
Come to think of it though, still will go down as a Real legend... when he and then Kaka joined, I remember all the debate of who will have the bigger impact, turned out wasnt even close.

As much as I'm not a huge fan... he is a Madrid legend no doubt and I'd like him to leave on a high note. Getting him better help and putting him in a position to succeed would be great.
Having the current Benzema as your scoring partner is like trying to swim with concrete boots. Counting on Bale is like waiting for a hot summer's day in Antarctica.

Ronaldo's world class performance has a heavy dependence on explosive speed and power. That generally degrades with age faster than ball control, pinpoint accurate passing and close quarter dexterity. Not sure he is through, but he will not be able to rely on his main attributes as he gets older.
