I dont think anyone beats Gerd Butler in terrible movies, guys needs to fire his agents. Everything except 300 is garbage.

I liked Three Billboards a lot, perhaps because I am generally a fan of movies such as them. But I can see where you are coming from.
The ensemble cast carried the film simply put. But once you start analyzing further there are obvious flaws. Hope the 2 amazing actors, especially ma man Sam Rockwell win that Oscar. And the film and direction (preferably to GDT, Shape of Water "looks" stunning from the trailer) honours go for the one who deserves more.

Gerard Butler haws like two fresh movies on rotten tomatoes out of 30 something. Absolutely incredible feat. Not accounting for the GOAT dragon movies of course. Those would make 4 total.

I thought the directing was the worst part really.
The tone was off during a lot of the parts in the movie. And I was unsure what he wanted to say with any of it. The racial issue in this movie is also incredibly tone-deaf and mishandled, and the redemption part of the story seemed like it was weird because McDonagh probably just wanted to get the characters together to deliver some fun dialogue and didn’t get how weird it was to gloss over the earlier parts of the movie.

I liked Machine Gun Preacher even though it was controversial.

I really liked Rocknrolla. Such a shame Guy Ritchie scrapped the trilogy.
That cast today would cost a lot now tho... Mark Strong, Gerard Butler, Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Tobias Menzies

Absolutely. Not to mention the totally random illogical scenes here and there and some bizarre coincidences for the sake of story to progress. The director wanted this to be a Coen-Tarantino hybrid piece, but felt short. Still a really good movie overall.
The racism/male chauvinism etc shown however I felt the director was simply putting a mirror to those times. Aint the film set in the past?

Peter Dinklage's mustache made me think its set somewhat in the past.
Anyway saw Martin McDonagh is not nominated for best direction.
@CB Try to not watch the trailer for Shape of Water. Numbnuts are showing most of the story in there. Try to watch the film without knowing anything. From what I saw (and know) it is simply brilliant.

Saw a Spanish film called The Invisible Guest on Netflix recently. Really good, lots of twists and turns. Highly recommended to thriller fans.

Who Am I (2014)
First German film I've seen probably unless I forgot one. This was a very good cyperpunk/internet thriller kinda film. Felt like a budget Nolan film in terms of story. Very good entertainment.
Great performances from Sami Khedira, Eminem, Sir Jorah and Zach Galifianakis. Cameo from Jurgen Klopp too.

- What didn't make sense for me is why the police didn't hear when he apparently bust his forehead against the mirror.

Was thinking that too. I can assume it's either a plot hole, or that it was not important considering it doesn't change anything since they always suspected him of murdering the girl anyways.
What did you think of the ending?

- Spoiler:
- Well I don't quite know. I think the film ended by telling us, 'okay, this is what happened.' But I'm unsure whether we are supposed to believe that or still question it.
Overall? I think it was a pretty decent mystery tale, but nothing great. A tale that relied a lot on the screenwriter's pen. As we mentioned, there might be plot holes, however I think the writer tried his best to not let there be any, rather than focusing on the mystery itself and giving the audience substantial evidence to base their own opinion on. Therefore we get that ending of you as the viewer deciding whether you want to believe the old couple's version of things, or not, or perhaps that there is more to it.
It basically plays on the whole if a tree fell in the forest and you weren't there to see it, did it really fall philosophy. And it is kinda Rashomon-y as well, if you are aware of that film you will know what I mean.
But I don't know. What do you think?

I think the ending is pretty much 'what you see is what you get'. The film was full of red herrings and unreliable narration. But the main guy did confess to everything in the end. If the film was set in a court room then i think it would have been an open ending. But the way final reveal happened, i don't think there is much left to theorise.
