Who will be able to stop Argentina?
They have been the best NT for the past three years. They should have had one World Cup and two Copa Americas in the past three years but were just terribly unlucky. And that is despite absolute terrible coaching (Bauza :lol ). Now they have Sampaoli, who is one of the best coaches in the world. I mean this dude won Chile two Copa Americas in a row and would have knocked out Brazil in the World Cup too had it not been for the crossbar. Without him Chile could not even QUALIFY showing how damn good he is at his job. Not to mention Messi, this is his last chance and he will go HAM just like he did against Ecuador (where they won after like 15 years).
Clear favorites and with Sampaoli they won't choke in the final. Depresses me but they are winning the World Cup.

Re: Who will be able to stop Argentina?
Best NT in the world for the past 3 years and yet Germany, Portugal and Chile have been actually winning tournaments. Must be a different world.
Also, depends on whether Messi can show up for every single game Argentina plays for the WC as only him really is a threat on that team.

They need to develop a style of play that is different from "Okay, Messi, do something for us", otherwise, they're not winning anything.

Basically and part of that is picking players who are talented but don't fit into Messi and Friends mantra.
No more bullshit about Dybala and Messi " not fitting" so you pick some jobber from the Iguazu falls.
They ain't doing shit as currently constructed and completely revamping their whole entire set up is a big ask.

Wait.
Good thing is that Argentina is now probably considered an underdog, so human players probably don't feel pressured as much.

Re: Who will be able to stop Argentina?
I was going to make the same thread for Brazil
If Argentina finds the right 11 and formation then of course they'll be a difficult team to stop
I'm also probably in the minority that believes tournaments like this really depend on draws and match ups, not necessarily the best or even strongest team

3-4-3, high pressing + possession, 5-4 win every game.

Re: Who will be able to stop Argentina?
Please
Beating an already eliminated Ecuador who had an interim coach and a bunch of replacement players bar a few and now they're unstoppable?
QFs will be the highest they go.

Poverty thread IMO, we are maybe the 12th favorite to win at this stage, can't even beat an eliminated Venezuela at home.

Mate, no South American team will be able to stand the harsh cold climate in Russia, watch that midget get stomped on by Răzvan Rat.
This WC is to a European team, i'd have to go with France tbh

Re: Who will be able to stop Argentina?
Sampaoli HAS TO find a system to incorporate Dybala and Icardi. I am not that much against playing the players who fit the system, but for that you need at least a minimum level of quality in those incoming guys.
Also the Higuain's and the Aguero's can fk off. Have seen enough shit already from those 2. Simply can't be relied upon.

Anybody who watched the last euros should be a part of that "minority" tbh. That being said, world cup is slightly bigger/longer so mildly less reliant than the Euros on luck/matchups. As always it still does remain probably the biggest factor.

I disagree. I think the best of the best always make it to the semi-finals, bar maybe one team.

They had a big role to play in Martino stepping down, which means we were stuck with this clown. It's not unrelated.titosantill wrote:The corrupt argentine FA did it again.
