Re: Champions League Group Stage - Group F
Combine saving first team players and add the injury to your only decent left wingback Ghoulan), all the trying in the world won't do much good against a team that can assemble and play two teams of equal quality to your first team.

Tomwin Lannister wrote:If they want to sustain being a top club then 1 title in a blue moon isn't going to do that. Consistent CL knockout runs with the financial benefits and prestige is the way to go. Even if they do win the league, they're far more likely to lose key players a la Leicester than gain any because they'll be looked at as constant overachieving underdogs instead of a modern European level club/brand.
De Laurentis does not have the financial means to compete at the top level. If he can win a Scudetto he will be happier than a pig in shit. With Inter, Roma and even Milan getting good funding from foreign owners Napoli is doing outstanding considering even Lazio have more resources than Napoli.

rincon wrote:Ir is small time and it wasnt tactical. ADL said before the game that the Inter match was more important. Sarri and all the players said the scudetto was their priority. Starting 2 U21 players over your two best midfielders wasn't a tactical choice. Jorginho and Allan started against Inter too.
Oh, I mean in that case it's ridiculous.

City vs. Feyenoord
Napoli vs. Shakhtar
Shakhtar needs one point from their remaining two games.

Napoli fans I know want the team to exit CL and not qualify for EL. The Scudetto is too important for them.

They'll likely win today but qualification is a long shot. They have to win well (in terms of GD) and then hope that City wins in Ukraine.

Clubs should have the right to decline their relegation in Europa.

LMAO this line of argument always makes me laugh. People who say stuff like this are full of shit.
I bet you they wouldn't say this if they were leading the CL group. They say stuff like this because they are losing.
It's a loser's attitude.
In truth, it is spawned by losing, and it leads to losing.
With that attitude, they'll never win anything.
It's no coincidence that the truly great teams have won TREBLES

Re: Champions League Group Stage - Group F
Hans you only say this because you support Bayern. Imagine if you were a Schalke fan (for example), in a situation where it's your club's only chance to win Bundesliga in this century.
Napoli in Champions League can reach QFs at best. Pragmatic doesn't mean loser attitude.

Re: Champions League Group Stage - Group F
The best scenario for Napoli would be finish 2nd in the group and draw Real/Barca/Man Utd in round of 16. Against which they will display their B team and still get that CL $$$ for 2 more games.

Every Schalke fan knows they have a better chance of winning CL than Bundesliga. It will never happen.
And I'd argue that this attitude makes it less likely that they win the Scudetto

Some Spurs fans were like that last year when they weren't doing well in the UCL and they definitely disregarded the EL so their team could put pressure on Chelsea.
Not surprised to see Breva talk about Napoli fans saying that. Teams that don't have a winning nature/history/mentality, their fans tend to think like that. Which is funny when you consider that Napoli are only 4 points ahead...in November.

Not only is it true, it was clearly explained on "The Extra" yesterday on bEIN Sport TV by Matteo Bonetti. Napoli ownership and fans want the Scudetto and don't give a crap about the CL.
Napoli is not a "great" team. It is usually a mid to low table (or Serie B and C ) in Italy. Until ADL bought the club they only had one period, with Maradona, that they did anything.

It's provinciale but Napoli does have a real chance at the Scudetto, they've been right up there for the past few years and have started even better this time around
I agree though, they didn't throw away the tournament in disgust but for me, how do you drop two of your three starting midfielders against Man City? On the President's command too. They still played extremely hard in both City games, they just lost and don't let Matteo Bonetti tell you otherwise. Insigne limped off injured in the first game and they lost Ghoulam in the second game for the season

Unfortunately, they seemingly do given that they are first and still playing brilliantly but hopefully Juve can make us both proud here

Stronger line up than I thought we'd go with.
Get the job done after 60 mins, Kev to collect his yellow card and then debut the two 17 year old pups for the last half hour.

It's November. Season before last season, Juve were 6th at this point lmao. We all know how this turns out at the end. Napoli better try to have some fun now, because they won't have fun in the league much longer.

Re: Champions League Group Stage - Group F
No Idea why Foden isn't starting. Talking up a youth player in the press all week and not even start one of them during a dead rubber match
I get starting Kevin if yellow cards don't get cleared until after the Qrt(or R16?). But why not have 1 youth player start.

It's definitely far from over but Serie A is much tougher to win this season than that one, or previous ones in general. Some very legitimate showings early, it makes it that much more ridiculous that Milan flopped, if they had it together too this season would be even more insane

Re: Champions League Group Stage - Group F
I only watched the second half but I imagine the first one wasn't much different. Complete domination there, I think I only saw Reina at the end when he complained about some crap and got carded.
Now it's in the hands of City. If City failed to win at home to Feyenoord today then I imagine they won't win against Shaktar in Ukraine with no motivation.

Accidental is the perfect word to describe this match.
Napoli is going ALL IN for the league, i wonder why people can't recognize it
