Zidane - better coach or player?

This question might actually become relevant soon lol. Who would have thought.

This is gonna be my response now and forever and as always, applies to me and me alone: Zidane can win 10 UCL titles in a row, beat Barcelona 5-0 every time and I would always prefer Zidane the player over Zidane the manager.

Zidane in a suit on a touchline clearly losing the little hair he has over his forwards' ineptness did not inspire me to want to kick a ball every lunch time in school or whenever the moment arose.

He has obviously done very very well for himself as a manager, but he is still just starting out.

It would take many years and titles before having the conversation IMO. So I am with Doc, but potentially a little more open to the idea

Well that's true. I mean his elegance and effortless brilliance on the pitch is something I have never seen before or since tbh. Unique unique player. Unless he does something similarly brilliant in terms of style as a manager, it's not going to compare.

To lighten up a bit, sure, would love to see his managerial career be as successful as his footballing even if it is not with Madrid. But the man was not just some talented footballer. As you said, he was unique. Really unique. It would be really difficult to surpass his footballing career to those who have seen him.

i agree with doc, to me he's still a better player......by far. i don't think its even remotely close. he's doing a good job as a coach and all, but as a player, set piece, both feet (probably scored better goals with his left foot), dribble, head, pass, score, free kicks, step up in big moments....no. not close at all, that's not a dig at his coaching career, but he's still new at this, learning new things, has a good squad that he seems to know how to use. but its still a long shot

Better player. I've never seen anyone as elegant and classy as him on the ball.

He's got the best squad in the world. He has the right mentality and credibility to lead this team and he knows how the club works. He is a man that commands respect. Sometimes that's more important than being a tactical mastermind.

How about he's the best at both?

Once we win the sextuple this year we will go down as the greatest team ever in history. At the moment we are copeting with the Madrid of the 50s for the GOAT team.
