We have a few players that played in the U20 World Cup (Italy 3rd place), and specially now in the U21 euro.

From the U20: Orsolini was the top scorer (5) of the tournament and one of the best players. Mandragora captained the team and played well. Bentancur was fine as well for Uruguay, one of their key players.

Now its the U21, we have:
Rugani
Caldara
Schick
(pending the official transfer)
probably other I forget.

Last night the 3 of them debuted.

Schick in general looked good and combined well but missed two clear chances. One of which he really needed to have scored. (0-2 vs Germany)

Rugani-Caldara are the starting CB pair for Italy, and what a pair! Rugani needs minutes with us, he plays so well. Even better though, was Caldara. The best player in the game for me (2-0 vs Denmark). He truly is Bonucci's heir. Played the same role and did it wonderfully.

The lineup for the Denmark game was:
Donnarumma; Barreca, Ruguani, Caldara, Conti; Benassi, Gagliardini, Pellegrini; Bernardeschi, Petagna, Berardi
subs: Grassi, Chiesa and Cerri

I wish we could hijack Conti from Milan. The kid looks extremely ready for the big stage. Another one with the personality of a big player (besides the ones that already are) is Chiesa. He plays with character to complement his workrate and talent. Its a shame that he is viola. Will be a bitch to get him if he continues to improve over the years (he is only 19).

Next game is on Wednesday, Italy-Czech. SO we'll Schick against our CBs.

Bernardeschi was underwhelming, so was Berardi. I was so excited to see them play.

The defence and midfield were amazing all in all and they play a nice tempo with good workrate.

Barely any in that team knew how to play with each other. They said it at the end as well, that some of them hadn't ever played together.

I commented on the int section that it was a bad idea to have something like 5 key players of the U21 stay with the seniors until just a few days before the U21 tournament started. Its bound to be clumsy at first. Lets hope they can figure it out.

Still it was nice. Denmark couldn't do anything all game and just fell back. 2-0 with only conceding like 1 shot on goal is great.

The other option rumored for Di Biagio might better. A 4-2-3-1 with Chiesa on the left and Berna on the center. Although he might want Chiesa fresh to wreck teams late.

Ohh it is great that you guys are watching the tournament, as I don't have time to do so :p

The U21 team is reallly relaly really strong and has very high potential in it. Forza Italia! Maybe Schick can show us something against Italy. This guy is a mix of Morata and Zlatan. Genius.
