Welbeck is so painfully shit. Still the same player who left United. 'Works hard' and runs a lot, thats it. He had 2 or 3 chances to play the ball forward and he chose to lay it off sideways.

That Courtois penalty was amazing. Ramos would be proud.
First trophy on the way to the poor man's quadruple.

What's wrong with the original one? Why are they changing this.

Re: Premier League 17-18 Discussion
A study showed that with the old system, the team taking first won more than 60% of the time. They decided it was actually unfair so they changed it. The idea of ABBA is that it reduces the pressure (if you miss you can correct the mistake right away). From what I've seen of it so far though it puts a lot more pressure on the keeper to save two pens in a row, and if you miss once you're screwed, especially if the other team scores twice in a row.

Re: Premier League 17-18 Discussion
All it seemed to do is flip it imo.
Just gives an even more unfair advantage to the team who goes 2nd imo.
Did nothing to help the balance.

Teams that take the 1st kick win 60% of the time. Thats why. It sure is less exciting. But if it makes the shootout even, I mean why not.

Re: Premier League 17-18 Discussion
Well both of them cant take the kicks at the same time, can they. Earlier the team that went 2nd had to do that 5 times.

From what i see i fail to see how it makes it more even, if anything it's worse.

Re: Premier League 17-18 Discussion
Statistically a 60% win rate looks bad, but tbh it never once occurred to me during a shootout that going first made that much of a difference. I don't think it did for the players, either.
There's no way of making it truly fair. Someone always has to go first.

Whats the proof of statistics that it makes it closer to even?

Re: Premier League 17-18 Discussion
Serious question:
If Koscielny was available to play in the Community Shield as the FA considered it to be a friendly, is Pedro now off the hook for his Red card? Or, is he suspended for the next three PL matches?
Trying to think of a recent case of a player being sent off in a Community Shield, and I'm drawing a blank.

Completely agree, i just think this makes it even more unfair.
Person going 2nd has a clear as day advantage.

Not sure about Koscielny but Pedro won't be suspended.
