Let's shift and just go for Alexis ffs.
Any other ideas?
Id rather spend 200m on Mbappe than 100m on a Barca reject.

The damn 200 million is because Barca is now in the game. And the damn 180 million came about because we waited so long that City were able to clear their books and afford to pay it AND PSG got into it.
This waiting game for Mbappe has cost us pretty much 70 million so far lol. We should have just paid the 135 million at the beginning.
Without Barca, Mbappe would have refused the others. But he won't refuse Barca!!!!!

Yeah, Madrid clearly was playing penny wise and pound foolish with this transfer. We all have our own thoughts about Mbappe but the club made no secret about wanting to acquire him. They should have paid the initial price and sort out whatever PR that comes with it.

What are your sources sportsczy?
Can't find anything relevant about Mbappe to Barca.
Just read that they will turn to Coutinho and Dybala if the move goes through, which is 99% most likely what they will do...

I know it's usually the popular thing to blame RM, but we didn't stall on any other deals. Theo, and Ceballos both went through without a problem. Reports say that deals were essentially done at the 120 mark AND at the 160 mark. Why would RM go back in for a player at a higher price if the deal was all but done and dusted?
Doesn't it seem more likely that Monaco have been stalling to drive a bidding war? Props to them, it worked.
I sincerely feel we should just back off at this point. Mbappe is a fine player but I think Monaco over played their hand. If the price comes back down to 120m then pull the trigger, otherwise we should look at the likes of Sanchez or Dembele.

I'm of the opposite view Deez. I don't think it was ever really done. If we really offered 130 mil for Mbappe, pretty sure we would have been talking about his preseason performances with us by now. Of course, you and I are both in the dark about this so who is to really now (besides Sports apparently).
That being said, 200 mil for Mbappe is actually ridiculous. If Barcelona wanna pony up that much, let them. Other talented footballers around that can fulfill what Zidane wants for way less.

Problem is Doc... every year we say that about a record amount. 3 years ago, we scoffed at 60+ mil being paid for Cavani and Falcao not to mention the 100+ for Bale and Neymar. Then we laughed at the fees for Higuain and Pogba. When will people realize that the market isn't going to drop.... ever! Football revenues are exploding. As a result, fees and wages will continue to do so as well.
Fullbacks are being sold for 50+ mil. Keepers are going for 40 mil. Strikers and mids are 100+ mil. Etc.
The reason that players like Dembele and Mbappe (not to mention Neymar) are being valued at such high amounts? Ability, age and box office. Clubs don't pay that kind of money unless they know they can make money off of them... and that's due to the football market value explosion.
Need to stop thinking about what we feel values should be and understand that the market drives value.
I mean think about it. In 2011, Real Madrid had revenue of 480 mil euros. Now, it's at 688 mil. That's incredible!

Oh I get the rise of transfer fees is very much in correlation with the money coming into football. I just don't understand Madrid at the moment with this Mbappe saga. No issues in breaking the pact with Atletico with Theo and definitely had no issues in Ceballos with an already stacked midfield.
But you're chasing after a player but finding it "difficult" to pay what the selling club is asking for. Had no issues before, what's so different now?!

Keeping money in La Liga v spending money that goes to a foreign one... that's the difference.

So Neymar just left BArcas training and it's pretty much a done dealio now. Lets see if your "sources" are right and Mbappe moves to Barca...

Let them get Mbappe so that we can go for Dembele. We lack players with speed who can run at defences. Stick Ronaldo up top and worry about his replacement when he actually declines fully. He still has another 2 seasons left in him

PSG are already under speculation for spending 222m on Neymar, I doubt adding another 200m in transfers is going to be likely in the current climate.

Actually if it goes as planned, PSG has 0 spent on their books. The money is from Qatar itself, so they are free to spend as they want with their own brand. Or they could just do it again, FFP is clearly not hindering them.

It's worth mentioning that FFP was added to stop clubs going into debt. By doing everything this way, maybe UEFA sees nothing illegal about it. Because the clubs will never go in debt this way

That's garbage. Mbappe has no interest in PSG, which is why they triggered the exit clause for Neymar. They didn't want to do it... but Mbappe and Dembele both rejected their offer (not to mention CR).
As a sidenote, Barca are acting like the little bitch club that they are. When CR was rumored to want an exit to PSG, Flo publicly said that they will never get in the way of a player asking to leave (assuming the price is right) but that he didn't think CR really wanted to go. That's how you handle it. Barca sound like some poverty club.

Yeah, I've heard that rumor. It's incredibly transparent. As dumb as Uefa are, they can connect those dots.
The only people discussing PSG circumventing the transfer fee are people on this forum.

Barca are a joke club lmao, 222m release clause expecting none to activate it They were lucky we weren't the ones activating it tbh.
BTW, Paris United are the ones reporting Mbappe wants PSG, they are also the ones who first reported that Neymar is going to PSG. They are not totally garbage, they seem legit to me imo

Re: 2017/2018 - Real Madrid Offseason Discussion
connecting dots and something being illegal are two different things. UEFA has to show that it's illegal per their laws. And they can't change the law and retroactively apply the change.
UEFA never anticipated that a third party would act as a loss leader to the tune of 100s of millions in order to allow for a club to circumvent the rules. It's just not a scenario that was considered by the attorneys drafting FFP.
It's a legal matter. And PSG/Qatar aren't doing anything illegal.
FFP is just a scam anyhow. It professes that it's trying to protect the little guys when it's really a protection for the elite.

Well for one, I don't think any of us know the ins and outs of FFP to the same level a lawyer who specializes in this type of business may be- so saying that there is a clause in FFP stating 3rd parties can be used holds very little weight without evidence. I don't think any of us can be sure the reverse isn't true.
Secondly, apart from this forum I have read zero articles outlining how PSG will use a 3rd party to make the transfer.
Thirdly, lol (I hate listing) if this was the case why haven't PSG used this in the past and have 0 debts in the eyes of Uefa and their shareholders.
So as far as I am concerned there is very little weight to your argument unless you can site a credible source outlining how and if this can be accomplished.

Re: 2017/2018 - Real Madrid Offseason Discussion
French papers have detailed the setup PSG is going to use. It's as follows:
- the state of Qatar is paying Neymar in the neighborhood of 300 million to become the WC brand ambassador from now until 2022
- Neymar is personally using 222 million of the 300 to pay the release clause.
- Once free, Neymar is signing a contract as a free agent to join PSG.
That's how it's going down. PSG is not paying or triggering anything. Neymar is personally. PSG only becomes involved to sign him once he's free.
FFP document was made public years ago by football leaks or something like that. So it's not something that you can't read. Also, since it was used in the courts against clubs, it became public record anyhow as a result.
