The Man Utd board quite obviously didn't think so.
As for Wenger, winning the FA cup and CL quali, he did both.

0 - Arsenal haven't won any of their last 10 Premier League away games vs the other teams currently in the top six (W0 D5 L5). Intimidation.

Wenger's underrated though.

What they have though are far superior managers at this day and age.Jay29 wrote:BarrileteCosmico wrote:Very real chance that if you take Wenger out of the equation Arsenal wouldn't even finish in the CL, just look at their team sheet
In comparison to who's team sheet? Spurs? Liverpool?
Arsenal is only clearly better than Spurs in like 2 positions:
Lloris>Cech
Walker < Bellerin
Vertonghen = Mustafi
Alderweireld > Kos
Rose > Monreal
Dembele > Coquelin
Wanyama > Xhaka
Dele < Sanchez
Eriksen = Ozil
Son/Lamela = Walcott/Iwobi
Kane > Giroud
Ozil > Eriksen like 100% sure about that !

But sure, ok, let's change that to "Arsenal only has 3 players clearly better than Spurs"
And 2 of them are likely to leave this summer

You only think that because Pochettino has them superbly well coached.
Put Wenger on Spurs and see what happens lol, i can't believe people are still defending the ineptitude of this man lol he's been clearly shite for 3 years.
He buys Cech, Ozil, Sanchez and many others and they get worse, that's clearly a sign he sucks.

Elneny is a loss. Xhaka lol
Key to getting a result against Chelsea is a solid midfield. I think most teams would drop points at the Bridge so mathematically this isn't so bad considering its just the CL places to play for.
Xhaka is better than every single one of your midfielders. He's just unfortunate that in the Pussy League, contrary to the myth they tell about themselves of being hard, you're getting red-carded for what is considered a normal tackle in every other league.
What works for us is the system. Its no longer about individual talent in the Liverpool team. Our midfield is so solid, That barely top teams have been able to even trouble us.
Also Xhaka is shite, I don't want him anywhere near Liverpool FC.
our midfield is actually good at pressing and that is all imo. These players cant handle the game with calmness and composure. Whenever any small team is attacking us, we can never have a small playe where you just tire out the opposition simply by keeping the ball. Either we have to attack and press like mad dogs or just simply sit back, keep conceding corners or opposition wingers/fullbacks putting crosses after crosses. We have no philosophy where we neither attack nor defend but just play football.

Right, and I don't disagree on Wenger, I think my post history is pretty clear on that. But if you only change the manager and not also the club's institutional reluctance to invest in top players, I don't think top 4 would be guaranteed in the first season of that manager.

That goes without saying, but the club has shown the necessary ambition as far as transfers go for quite a while now (since Özil in 2013). All the club needs to do is keep up with the recent trend of signings and find a manager who can take these players to another level, as Conte did-- as even Ranieri did with Leicester.

Ozil - £42.5 million
Alexis - £35 million
Xhaka - £35 million
Mustafi - £35 million
We were one of the highest spending clubs last summer. There is no reluctance anymore.

I'm not convinced, they seemed to be on the right track by bringing one top player per season (Ozil, Alexis), then Cech was an upgrade but not really an investment given that he was relatively cheap, and last season you guys didn't sign any even though there's multiple positions you could reinforce.
Edit: Xhaka was 35 million pounds!?!?! ok I'm now more ready to believe the issue is Wenger.

Also the idea that it's the club that's reluctant to spend is a myth. Wenger dictates how much the club spends on players.

Anyway, other games going on atm.
Everton 3 - 0 Bournemouth already. Lukaku with two, McCarthy with the other. Howe's audition to be the next Arsenal manager continues to go well.
Southampton 1 - 1 West Ham. Gabbiadini with a goal on debut, Carroll with the equaliser.
Watford 1 - 0 Burnley. Burnley down to 10 men after 10 mins, Deeney got the goal. Merson called Niang a class player and is very impressed by him.
Palace 0 - 1 Sunderland.
West Brom 1 - 0 Stoke.

Set piece goal conceded again . Mignolet mistake . Can kicking the ball out of play under no pressure to concede that corner. Lucas Leiva playing center back again.

Unreal impact from Niang already in GOAT league
Pre-assist against Arsenal and now a goal and an assist (perhaps more to come)
