Re: Best of 2016
Great lists @EG and @Freeza. Wish I had watched that many movies.
Anyway, which are the best foreign language movies of the 2016? Top 5 or top 10. The only foreign one I have watched is I think Train to Busan. Yea I know, I suck lately.
So, ya which all. Shed light folks!

Thanks.
Yea. It was one of the more unique films I saw from last year. It just stood out to me. It doesn't feel like a biopic at all, more like a mix of a fictional tale told in a documentary style with a period piece aura to it. The overall story isn't amazing, however I don't think that was ever the goal. Natalie Portman is fantastic, the score accentuates everything. The cinematography was also so controlled and practical.

I absolutely loved it. Me only gripe with it was there wasn't enough songs. The 5 there were were absolutely amazing though, and I haven't been able to shake them out of my head at all. Absolutely brilliant music. Even John Legend's song was too good to be in the film imo That actually didn't fit.
Only film I've given 5/5 to the entire year of 2016 films. I so adore this movie.
But Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone were amazing.
- Spoiler:
- The last scene broke me. Also the break up scene.
Everything about this movie reasonated with me on such a personal level. Choosing between your dreams in love and career is such a dilemma and the bittersweet ending was the perfect ending for this film. It didn't delve into the sappy happy ever after ending. THat whole recap scene broke me, and really showed how nothing is perfect and it shouldn't be.
Also felt like a really personal film on all levels for Damian Chazelle. Can't wait to see it 10 more times.

Re: Best of 2016
Would probably edit more La La Land songs into my top songs. Should've been like 3 La La Land nominees and 2 Moana. Sing Street songs don't come close imo.

Go soon. It's so great. Also didn't find as self-masturbatory as people said. It's also amazingly realistic and honest, and not sappily romantic.

- Glad to hear you loved it, lots of naysayers out there trying to discount it. I was completely blown away, really, the movie broke me to tears when i went to sleep that night, reminiscing life decisions, what went wrong, what could have changed etc. it to had a personal effect on me, and those last 20 mins, my god, simply breathtaking, a shockwave of emotions.
It deserves all the praise it gets, because this is a movie for the times, probably my favorite movie from 2010~ onwards
