Name a footballer and discuss
We all like a number of players more than others, it is human nature to try and convince people to like what you like,
this thread is not about that.
Name a player you know off, and ask the forum to discuss the different attributes of the player.
The Rules:
You post a footballer name. The footballer gets discussed in 5 posts, then we move on to another footballer.
You can discuss anything about the footballing attributes of the player.
Please have fun, I will start this thread now.
Okay, here goes;
Serginho, Brazil, Milan
Discuss
It helps to assign tiers to the footballers: here is a rough guidline;
(the coma is an OR)
Tier L; legends of the game who define football for fans all around the world, and have the talent to show for it.
Tier 1; Team legends, national team legends, great players who achieved a lot, redefiner of the game.
Tier 2; great but for a short time, consistent for a long time, great at one thing and then some, loyal, only national team good
Tier 3; great squad players, more than mediocre, shined for a bit but faded away, consistent if not spectacular.
Tier 4; average players, one year wonders, solid but meh, runs around a lot
Tier 5; overrated, below average, perennial flop
Tier 6; mid table team at best, major flop
Tier 17; how in earth did any one give you a contract
Tier B; Bonera

Re: Name a footballer and discuss
For a player who started playing European football at 28, Il Concorde adapted surprisingly fast.
Renowned for his speed and stamina, Serginho was a solid if unspectacular left back. Most always used as a sub, a fun fact is that he was used as the first sub for most of his first 4 seasons.
It still surprises me why Carlo Ancellotti decided to trust him with one of the spot kicks in the final of the 2005 CL. A spot kick he missed.

Re: Name a footballer and discuss
adebayor... wonder if they tied his feet up and taught him to play football only with his head when he was young. Seems like a nice guy (at least with Madrid). Absolutely horrific finisher with his feet. There's telegraphing a shot and then there's adebayoring it.

Re: Name a footballer and discuss
Before we get started id like to discuss somethings regarding it........
I get to provide the entertainment yay lol....
As for the thread do you think we should provide youtube complilation/highlights with the player in question just in case people are unaware of what the player we are discussing was/is like.
And people actually keep to the 5 posts on 1 player rule please

back to topic;
we are currently discussing Messi, with 1 post already written by ynwa
Messi is certainly out of this world, but the gulf in class between top teams is enhancing his rep.
Keep the posts coming lads
