'Hamburger' is an adjective derived from the town name Hamburg, meaning "of Hamburg", "from Hamburg", "pertaining to Hamburg"

You have the Hamburger sports club (SV), the Hamburger harbour etc.

It makes no sense to say "I hope Hamburger win this game", unless of course it's some sort of contest between types of food, or unless you mean "I hope die Hamburger win this game", meaning Hamburger as a noun for people/players from Hamburg.

If Liverpool FC were called 'Liverpudlian FC', you wouldn't say 'Liverpudlian should win this' would you
