What a coach, so passionate for the club that he goes out of his way to visit Pep and Bielsa for quick 1hr tutorials, guys like Zizous and Brocchi are everything i like about the game. They know that they are lacking, so they seek out help from others, unlike other certain coaches

I'm impressed by what he accomplished in such a short space of time. He isn't some tactical genius or some innovator of the game and quite frankly, to manage Madrid you really don't have to be either (see Don Vicente).

I agree you don't need to be an elite tactician to manage Madrid, just an elite man manager and perhaps Zidane has proved that. He certainly has had an incredible start to his managing career at the top level. But to me, this season too much has simply gone his way. I give him credit for his unbeaten run, for beating Barca and Atleti when it mattered most. But he has not yet proved to be an elite manager.

He's an amazing man manager, which is what we needed this year. Let's see how he does with an actual pre season. Sometimes a man manager is all you need and the talent can do the work. He's better than Benitez for this team, that's for sure.

Some posts here are hilarious...

BBC has always and will always be at its best when its set up for the counter attack. Atleti is at its worse when it has to make play in tight spaces as they are also a counter attack team.

Does it not make sense to sit back and force Atleti to do what they are least proficient at? Is it not even more common sense since it also puts your attack in its optimum setup?

The best teams in Serie A always play this way tactically since forever... same with Italy NT. Namely, if you score the go ahead goal, force the opposition to attack you so you have the chance to counter attack.

If you think this isn't impressive... then I guess Ancellotti, Lippi, Trapattoni, Capello, etc. are shit tactical managers then Laughing

This is the exact blueprint that all these guys use Laughing

If we weren't clumsy with our finishing, we would have won this game 3-1 at least.

yes it would have been extremely foolish for zidane to set up his team to try and be fancy to appease neutrals who wanted us to lose anyway. besides, the "atleti were the better side" talk is bogus. we were better than them until they scored...yes grizmann missed his pk, but we had shots on target and goalline clearances. when atleti scored, then they bossed the park. in extra time, both teams were even and extremely tired. bayern and barcelona played a certain way against atleti and got knocked out....us doing the same, would have been extremely foolish
