Love this kid Lucas. Very happy for him.

How can this team look so strong (even with reserves) one day and yet so weak just a few days earlier? Surely there is not that big a difference between a mid table Spanish team and a mid table German team!

Wolfsburg is a much better team

You're telling me that German liga is better than la liga! Both are 9th place in respective ligas. Certainly by European results, liga is better so I doubt Wolfsburg is MUCH better. Point is why does this Madrid team, starters or reserves look so different against vastly inferior teams.

League table positions can be a bit irrelevant when it comes to European ties. Wolfsburg probably played their best match against us all season (probably) but could end up doing a pile of nonsense this weekend against Mainz.

Why? Because teams tend to raise their game in Europe and boil back down in their own respective league. Why we look inferior to vastly inferior opposition? The cynic in me is saying we are probably not as good as we think we are but I guess we simply get out played and out muscled by guys who want it more.

It depends on the personell. Carvajal>>Danilo, Nacho>>Ramos, Lucas and Jese doing the dirty work at the top etc etc

Pepe was not bad today. But i have to admit his age is starting to show particularly around Ramos and Danilo. Around calm figures such as Nacho we see the best of Pepe

So Wolfsburg just drew today getting slaughtered vs Mainz at home. They (the players) will have absolutely NO sympathy from me if they dont put us through that poverty team

Also, Eibar isn't a weak team. They'll take your feet if you underestimate them which is what Wolfsburg did efficiently. My thoughts mirror Hala's. To be KO'd by Wolfsburg is unforgivable.

This is what I said after the Wolfsburg game was over:

I don't know how good your English is but "mediocre" is not a synonym for "elite". I think you can clearly see for yourself that, even though I respect Wolfsburg as a team and as a club, I don't rate them that high for obvious reasons. My whole point was hovering around the fact that we shouldn't have lost to them in the first place because they're not elite. So you claiming that I'm "acting like Wolfsburg is some elite" proves one thing and one thing only: you don't read people's posts really. You just automatically assume things in your head and reply based on those false, imaginary assumptions of yours.

Do I think we can go through? Of course. But I'm not happy with the fact that we lost to them already in the first leg because it shows that we're not taking the only competition we can win this year seriously.

We can beat them comfortably on Tuesday, but I'd still keep the 2-0 defeat in mind and make sure to never make the same mistake again, to never get complacent and arrogant and to always, always, always give your opponent no matter how weak they may seem on paper the same respect you'd give to an elite team.

I try not to be biased or delusional and I tend to see things as they truly stand around me. We're still third in the league and, even though, we've drawn two easy teams in Roma and Wolfsburg, we still struggled against both. So maybe, just maybe we need to stay grounded, work silently and hope for the best.

Wolfsburg has been underperforming this year tbh...   They kept Draxler last summer and have a defensive double pivot of Guilavogui and Gustavo.  Dante is experienced too.   I personally thought they'd contend for #2 in Bundi.  Their Achilles heal is wing defense and they are very strong defensively through the middle... basically the perfect mix to defend us.

In any case, the league standings aren't that indicative in this case...  like Chelsea's league standings.  Or the fact the City is struggling in the league.  In CL, you look at player quality and Woflsburg has some really nice pieces.
