Areola is like 23 years old. I'd hardly put him in a list with youngsters. Already established himself at Villarreal (and in France for multiple clubs on loan as well) and got France call up.

He started the season slow and played in that game we got destroyed by Inter in the CI so I understand why you wouldn't rate him.

Now that he settled and with Chiellini's long injury he has shined though. The past 2 games he was our best defender. Absolute class performances this last month. Only 3 games so its up in the air, but for a 21 year old CB to look as he did is great sign + what he did in Empoli. With Chiellini's injuries and Barzagli's age he'll get more time and if he continues playing like that he'll push for a starting spot soon. The talent is there.

You should give Gladbach some credit for properly developing him on his loan, though. Cool

22 in 2,5 months.

Btw didn't realise this was about players who could top the world. Don't think Bazoer or Frenkie ever will but I expect them to become top players at least.
But then again I guess most people just named guys who they expect to become decent players hmm

This list is overkill.

Miazga will not be the next best thing, neither will Gauld. Ric Rod, Mustafi and Promes are 23 and 24, so hardly the next best thing, and most of these players won't do all that much in their careers to be considered the next best thing.

Agree on Miazga. Looked super average to me whenever I saw him play for the Red Bulls. Can barely get a look in the US' terribad defensive setup as well so that's just as telling.

He played poorly for USA U23 the other day, then had his debut for us, where he was tested like twice throughout the game, so everyone is hyping him.

Seems like a decent player, but needs to work on a lot of things.

Norwegian youngster, Martin Samuelsen (18) has been showing positive signs for West Ham, and their manager, Slaven Bilic was full of praise for him after his debut game. However, he's currently on loan at Petersborough United Razz I don't know if his career will ever go anywhere, but I really like his playing style and he's performing well for his age. He's tall and quite good technically.

That's more Klinsmann's handywork, actually. The guy seriously doesn't know squat about defensive players. USNT needs to take him out already.

I'm thinking Miazga might get to be America's best defender in the coming years. I'm expecting him to get at least around prime Ivanovic's level.

Hope this can include in this thread otherwise may need to make a new one, but just read Michael Cox's article of Koke. He does seems still quite underrated despite being a starter for Atletico, and Spain, is he really capable of becoming a leader and star for Atletico and Spain?

No mention of the next 2 goat British players Ben Woodburn and Harry Wilson.
