Re: The Movie House - Part 6
Samuel Jackson has to be one of the favorites for the best actor but I'm conflicted over his performance tbh
I'm not sure how I feel since he was basically playing himself rather than acting, I've seen his interviews and how he is in real life and it's basically like they inserted him into the movie, would totally believe it if they said there was no script involved

Yeah, he plays himself. But that's also hard imo. He had bad motherf'ucker printed on his lightsaber

Re: The Movie House - Part 6
still need to watch the martian
speaking of which, DiCaprio flew me out to watch the revenant on his yacht with him, posting from the toilet atm so I should probably get back to it. Will post my thoughts later. The Bear scene is one of the most tense I've seen in a few years though. (:

Waiting for good quality since the Danish cinemas won't let me pay for it before oscars. The fact they whine about piracy when there's no other option

Yeah, and we had a visit at university from Nordisk Film who distributes most films in Denmark, they complained about us not paying to watch movies. Meanwhile, we have no other option to watch, really.
I really can't wait until all films not in cinemas are on some streaming site. I'd prefer that over piracy. I'm not paying 20$ for a 1994 movie etc.

Re: The Movie House - Part 6
You always get the big blockbusters before the rest of us, I don't see a reason to complain
Anyways, people list me your favorite 2 films (or 1 film) by year since the turn of the century. I'm looking for gems that I might have missed.
2000 - Snatch and Gladiator
2001 - LOTR: The Fellowship and Training Day
2002 - LOTR: The Two Towers and Gangs of New York/Catch Me If You Can
2003 - LOTR: The Return of The King and Mystic River
2004 - Troy and Closer
2005 - Munich and Match Point
2006 - The Prestige and The Departed
2007 - Zodiac and No Country For Old Men
2008 - The Dark Knight
2009 - Inglorious Basterds and Hachi: A Dog's Tale
2010 - Inception and The Town/The Social Network
2011 - Warrior
2012 - End of Watch and The Dark Knight Rises
2013 - The Wolf of Wall Street and Her
2014 - Whiplash and Edge of Tomorrow
2015 - Spotlight and Sicario (so far)

You got it thursday evening didn't you? Pretty sure it opened there.
Also we only get blockbusters a day early here, because all our movies open on weekdays. This doesn't happen in the US, because they want the opening weekend records etc.

Re: The Movie House - Part 6
definitely an injustice to the movie if you don't watch the revenant in 4K tbh tbf, the visual shots are pretty unreal, imagine it will win whatever oscar award there is for that (don't recall the name off the top of my head)
can't see DiCaprio winning an oscar, he was good but has plenty of better performances, I imagine Hardy will get a nom for best supporting actor though, he gave a pretty good performance too
overall I feel like it was a pretty average revenge movie though

Re: The Movie House - Part 6
Christopher Nolan may be filming a World War II film inspired by the evacuation of the French seaport Dunkirk. Dunkirk's mayor Patrice Vergiete is said to have announced that a "world famous director" is set to shoot an American blockbuster in the city.
According to local French newspaper La Voix Du Nord, that director is Nolan. Via translation from Indiewire, La Voix Du Nord writes, "Completely incognito during his recent visits to Dunkirk with his brother Jonathan, [Christopher Nolan] absorbed the territory, its past and the consequences of the conflict."
The Dunkirk evacuation is also called the miracle of Dunkirk. When the British Expeditionary Force and other Allied Forces were trapped by German troops, it was expected that many of troops would not be saved.
Miraculously, the troops were able to evacuate across the English Channel and over 330,000 soliders were saved.
