From what I understand, this current season is headed towards the 'no way out' arc from the comics which is supposedly GOAT (as every arc during alexandria period is apparently).

Expecting a lot of action this season (and deaths). But obviously filler as well (guess that's why the cast is huge now)

God I wish Shane was still around.

Rick is just as crazy as Shane was if not more so, when everyone thought Shane was over board.

Also have to agree with the discussion about Maggie on here. She is such a useless character at the moment. I don't even know what the hell angle the writers are trying to play with her. She's been useless since they've gotten to Alexandria. Just being Diane's pet. She ain't even relaying any useful info the group about her.

On the other hand, Loving Glenn these days. He was going stale ever since season 3 but now seems to be back being a great character.

I guess something is bound to happen between him and Maggie.

They need to keep giving Abraham extended screen time. Massively under-utilised.

There just seems to be way too many people. Which is why a lot of really good characters are getting very little screen time. Abraham, Daryl, Carol, Michonne, Glen etc.

Most of:
Sasha, Eugene, Rosita, Tara, Maggie, Gabriel, whoever else need to die off soon.

Pretty good opening to the season. Brilliant direction, felt some of the dialogue like the protein bar thing was cheap but whatever. Liked that they went straight into the action. Anyone else thought of the Hardhome attack when the episode opened with all those walkers Proud

I was hoping they would have the climax of that job finished this episode, but I guess a cliffer is the right way to go for a season premiere.

Rick is going to the dark side quickly and I feel this season we're going to see a lot of prime Ricktatorship like we've never seen it before.

So many characters now, some will have to die.

As for the horn. Well the kid makes sense, but I don't let's see how it plays out.

Lol at Carl just casually going on in this world and pursuing his first love. I hope that subplot doesn't get cringey.

For this very reason I think they'll keep Maggie alive. Surely there will come a time when Diana becomes crucial in someway (maybe some sort of decision she will make) and Maggie willl have to step up to either support her or go against her.

So the scrub from Can't Hardly Wait is the one to get his face torn off and his neck broken by the Ricktator to start of the season of killing useless pleb characters. I can dig that.

Heath obviously the latest incarnation of the token black dude in the zombie apocalypse. He seems a lot more a sensible than his predecessors at least though I think he does come off as a bit of a wuss. I think he lasts maybe an episode longer than I think he will solely because of his hair.

All in all, quite a good opener. Not spectacular by any means, but it like it hit all the right tones I've come to love about this show.

Great to have it back.

I instantly liked Heath for some reason. Maybe because of his hair game Laughing or that he spoke sensibly.

Heard he is a comic character as well so probably useful later on and won't die that soon.

but I do hope Sasha goes before him if they are to kill Laughing

Is there any chance Rick himself would die this season? hmm

If he stays on this road he is on, I just can't see a happy ending for him. Something's got to give.

Great first episode. Why did they shut Morgan in a room for a while? It is left unexplained.

Also, I can't really understand the plan they laid. It seemed a much better option to go there and kill all the trapped zombies using some dinamite or fire. Stupid plan is stupid.

I suppose Rick didn't immediately trust Morgan, the last time they met Morgan was somewhat mad. Locking him up was a bit over the top. But there's already a lot of hints that Rick and Morgan are going to clash. I wonder could we be looking at another Rick vs Shane situation between those two - and who'd survive that?

The plan didn't seem 100% logical, but that didn't bother me, I thought it was a cool way to start the season with a bang.

The whole TWD story is Rick's story so there is more chance of 'Rick was in a coma all along' than him dying at ANY point.

Last time when Rick met Morgan, he was a lunatic and tried to kill him if you remember (that town with guns n shit).

That plan was full insane with a lot of holes. But I guess it had to be done to show Rick's recklessness. I don't know if blowing them would have worked. Dynamite wouldn't have necessarily killed all of them, and it would have just attracted walkers from elsewhere. Fire would have been great but how to spread gasoline in that enormous area and how to find that much?

BB had a storyline which progressed every season, which is why it kept me hooked.

TWD imo has turned into a character driven show and I'm more of a plot driven show guy. First 4-5 seasons TWD was cool and fun to watch because of the 'wow wtf, zombies chasing after humans' thing. But now it's the same thing every season and the story never progresses. New location, survive walkers, rinse, repeat.

They started this season premiere with a side mission which had nothing to do with the main story. It was predictable, rehashed and nothing was must watch.

Thought it was going to be a boring episode then bam women gets cleaned up by an axe Proud

Carol has turned into rambo, love her and ruthlessness. Still disappointed she killed the one that was tied up, coulda tortured him for info on the rest of the gang so rick and co can clean them up.

Can someone explain to me how morgan's stick is soo fking tough, did he carve it out of african blackwood or something?

I wonder if those Wolves guys that attack alexandria are just fodders who's been forced into doing the dirty work for the the proper W group hmm

Took lots of chances then.

I can imagine lots of options better than letting all those zombies run around freely. Why not put everyone on top of the trucks for a week and kill them with spears? They were a week building a fence they could have spent killing zombies.

If they can't reach you it's basically a mechanical job, and you could kill at least 5 zombies/minute, 300 zombies/hour or 2.400 a day. Put everyone at work and you clear it in a couple of days.

Holy shit that was a great episode.

Carol    that assassin's creed getup, dem skills.

Morgan has left I think. Never thought he would stick around (no pun intended) but I guess this isn't for him. That symbolism at the end was great with him and Carol.

Surprised episode was this good without Rick n co though tbh.

Those wolves guys are crazy. but I agree with Maravilla, they didn't seem to have a leader. And that guy saying "we don't have a choice". Surely there is something bigger out there. Now that they know the place and everything. Bigger war lies ahead.

Next episode should be intense as well with the walker horde coming towards Alexandria.

Great start to the season so far.
