Couldn't find a video with his full performance of the watch yet, but this will do for now, maybe some else can link one. He bossed it

Andres Iniesta, the former Barcelona captain and World Cup-winning Spanish soccer star, apologized Tuesday after being criticized for posting a picture of him posing with two people clad in blackface during a popular Christian celebration.
Good to see he's still retaining that Pep DNA

Re: Iniesta
Blackface is not even a thing in Spain. He shouldn't have apologized. Why are we applying a US issue to a Spanish player living in Japan?

Re: Iniesta
Andres Iniesta, the former Barcelona captain and World Cup-winning Spanish soccer star, apologized Tuesday after being criticized for posting a picture of him posing with two people clad in blackface during a popular Christian celebration.
“At no time did Andres Iniesta want to bother anyone with that photograph which is the image of the illusion in Spain and apologizes to those people who may have been offended,” the statement read.
The former Barcelona midfielder tweeted a picture with his wife, two children and a group of friends dressed in costumes to commemorate Three Kings Day. Two of the people in the picture, were in blackface. Iniesta is sitting on the ground at the front of the picture. As of Tuesday morning, the Twitter post had not been deleted, despite the apology.
Three Kings Day is a popular Christian tradition in Spain that marks the biblical adoration of Jesus by the three Wise Men or Magi.
“The presence of the Three Kings belongs to the culture of our country, rooted for many years with which we want to celebrate the most magical day of the year with our children and is a tradition that the Iniesta Ortiz family repeats every year,” the statement read.
We can infer he was in Spain over the holidays. I've also seen pictures of this traditional Spanish thing posted and nobody else was in blackface.

Re: Iniesta
It's a nice tradition where you get candy as a kid from the wizard kings that brought Jesus presents on his birth.

That's the three kings/wise men from the orient
normal Christian thing to celebrate on the 6th of January
one of them, Melchior, is black
we used to go around as altar boys as the three kings, marking the door frames of buildings iwth a blessing, the face of one painted black with shoe polish
It's got nothing whatsoever to do with the US tradition of blackface in minstrel shows
Nothing whatsoever.
Once again, US people can't help but being ignorant imperialists, even in the realm of political correctness

Re: Iniesta
It's called 'recreational outrage'. Getting mad and venting about political, religious, racial, or other topics to the point where it becomes a hobby. These people are rarely right but often loud enough to warrant a reaction.
It's a horrible disease in today's society.

Re: Iniesta
No one in Germany knows what "Blackface" is, except maybe 1 in 100 young politically interested students browsing America-related topics on the Internet. Just because Americans had slavery and put black people in the back of the bus 50 years ago and their police shoots them for fun to this day doesn't mean a Spanish guy can't dress himself up as a black king.

Not sure what point you're trying to make. That you're a bunch of racists?

Re: Iniesta
Just a fun fact. It doesn't sound as offensive as it does in the English language though. Different languages, different undertones and connotations.
It's more neutral here. Not associated with slavery, we had nothing to do with that
Also, i don't believe a word is offensive unless used directly towards somebody in a derogatory manner. In isolation, it's just a word like any other.

These complaints are from Gen Z /millennials who get all their cues from what's going on in the US via social media. In France, nobody has ever heard of " Le blackface " or " L'appropriation culturelle " until these kids started whining about these concepts a couple of years ago.
