Christian BenHeskey-teke
Looks like it's happening.
Hope he wins as many trophies here as Heskey did, but then again I hope I get to sleep next to Clive Owen tonight.
I have no expectations and fully expect him to flop, so anything better will be a major surprise.
Welcome Ted Beneke, You shagged Skyler alright and were a good boss before injuring your head.

You'd like to think a thread about a player joining us (assuming he does sign here) would be a bit more positive and encouraging. Pretty crappy title/post IMO.

I am not going to change my opinion of Benteke as a player just because he's about to become a LFC player.
It'd be hypocritical and border-line unacceptable.
Would you change your opinion of Titus Bramble if he was doing his medical at Melwood now? Nope.

Re: Christian BenHeskey-teke
He's got 42 goals in 88 Premiership games, you don't do that just by being a big, strong target man. I'm fine with signing him, especially since the market for strikers is really crap. Although we haven't signed him yet, just made an acceptable bid. I wouldn't be too surprised if United bid for him, too, they need a striker from somewhere and like I said, the market's crap.

We were never in for him.
Villa in the last 48 hours briefed that we were preparing a bid for him, and whadayaknow, LFC reacted and triggered the release clause.
Villa played a blinder.

That simply isn't true, there's plenty of examples of similar players having similar records.
Lukaku and Demba Ba just to name two.

Re: Christian BenHeskey-teke
And Benteke's goals-per-game ratio in the Prem is better anyway than either of those two. And both of those two were good enough at some point for Chelsea.
Benteke isn't a dream signing, but for a non-CL club he's not a bad choice, either.

Re: Christian BenHeskey-teke
What's the worst we can expect from him??? 15 goals from 30 games!!! That's pretty decent actually. Problem is, his best wouldn't be much further than that either.

Re: Christian BenHeskey-teke
Should've opted for Charlie Austin then. Scored more goals than Benteke last season. Also is English.

Except they are, i might be willing to give you Ba but Lukaku is only big and strong
I don't think you quite get what a target man is, by your description you would think that only people like Shola Ameobi and Anichebe count lol.

Ba's goal to game ratio was better for Newcastle and West Ham, hardly fair to compare him when he hardly played at Chelsea.

The amount of Lulz, when next season or even in this season, Origi or Ings perform better than Sturridge (injury prone) and Benteke lol

Re: Christian BenHeskey-teke
This is what happens when we get money
Torres money, Suarez money, and now Sterling money all splashed as if a two year old was making decisions.
It's gonna take a lot of mental preparation from me to get behind this. I might need to do football rehab ffs.

Re: Christian BenHeskey-teke
No idea. If Lambert is sold then I'd imagine 9. Lallana has 20, which was his number for Villa and is his number for Belgium.

Re: Christian BenHeskey-teke
As a rival fan, I would have preferred if you had bought Rondon instead.
Benteke's price is OTT, but he isn't a bad player by any means. His record for a club like Villa is quite good. And at Liverpool he will get much better movement and support.
I don't doubt for a second he will be relatively successful. Far more than the likes of Balotelli, Aspas etc. Also you still have sturridge who when fit is a top tier PL striker.

Re: Christian BenHeskey-teke
Reading through the AV forum and they are really unhappy about Benteke leaving. Pretty much all of them convinced that if not for his injury he would have been gone sooner. They're all commenting on how Liverpool fans don't understand how good of a player he is, and that he's going to be a huge success here because he's so good. In fact most of them seem to think he could do much better than Liverpool and, for whatever reason, they hate us, lol.
Anyway, lots of positives to read there from the fans that have actually been watching him for the last three years game in and game out.

Thought this was interesting:
Thought this was interesting:
The Belgian striker has been assisted for twenty-eight league goals in his time with the Villans, and of those eight have been from crosses (though not including corners; we’ll cover those in a later section). This means that 29% of his strikes have required a ball in from wide areas.
In the Premier League over the same period, there have been 627 goals created via crosses, from a total of 2,042 net-bulgers that have been assisted; 31% in percentage terms, so a slightly higher proportion than Benteke.

Re: Christian BenHeskey-teke
For those who care, and doubt Benteke's pace/ball skill...he has been absolutely turning defenders inside out in training.
Obviously it's just training, but he doesn't look like he has any trouble with the ball at his feet at all.
Strong with both feet, too. That's not the full training video (if you sign up for LFCTV you can watch more of that stuff).
