Basically he used United to get a contract extension with substantial payrise.
As if he was ever going to leave when he is getting the captain's
armband.

Man U should really stop looking at star players and sign players which will actually make them better and make them win.Now Otamendi would be a great signing for them.
Some of the signings they made so far have been very good, very shrewd moves.I think they need to continue along this path rather than trying to ape Madrid.

Ramos has agreed a deal with Madrid till 2020 at close to 9 mil net per year, according to Jose Felix Diaz.

He wanted to come to us, but after forcing Casillas to go to Porto, Perez would never have allowed Ramos to leave- RM fans would have turned on him something serious. So they met in the middle & compromised a new contract.

It is what it is.

Means De Gea will certainly stay with us for another season. So it's all good in the end.

Also no way he was going to leave us after Casillas left. Ramos isn't the kind of guy to pass up on leadership, which is his best quality. He would never pass up as the undisputed captain of Madrid.

Guy is a huge fan of bullfighting, and ironically, his playing style has a few similarities to that of a bull in a bullfighting ring. Bulls charge towards the matadors with all of their might, but their attack is also their only defense and so the only way they have of defending themselves is to run in one direction and hope that the bullfighter somehow gets caught in their horns. I'm pretty sure bulls are more intelligent than Ramos, though.

United made Ramos one of their main transfer targets this summer and were confident of luring him to Old Trafford.

They believed Ramos was willing to join them after he claimed United were the only club he would go to.

United had a £28m bid rejected but were willing to make an improved offer.

But now it has emerged Ramos is to hold talks with Real about a new deal at the Bernabeu instead.

A United source told Starsport: “The club was led to believe he wanted to join them and was willing to leave Real Madrid.

“He was urged to make his feelings public to help speed up the transfer, but it now looks like he was playing a game all along.

“In the end it appears all he wanted was a new contract at Real and it looks like he’s going to get one as well.

“It’s not the sort of behaviour you’d expect from a player of his standing in the game. It’s like he’s betrayed United.”

United boss Louis van Gaal will now step-up his attempts to sign alternative target Nicolas Otamendi from Valencia instead.

Real are also preparing to meet United’s £35m asking price for unsettled goalkeeper David de Gea in the hope of signing him before the start of the season.
