Bale for Sale - Page 9 Empty Re: Bale for Sale

titosantill wrote:@bill, i said beckham in the first few months. i put a time line on it, i didn't say he couldn't speak for his whole time here. but in the first few months his impact was already big on the pitch, and maybe he could say yes and no in spanish, but i'm sure it must have taken more than 2-3 months for him to learn

i never have bought into the language argument, i think that's just used as added ammo because his form has been garbage and he's always injured. plus if the man doesn't want to go out at midnight, maybe it rubs his teams the wrong way, but he's an adult and not the captain, so its his prerogative

me, i simply stick with his football; his football has been awful and so too the injuries. if he was beasting and giving us 3 points in games that matter, nobody would care about him not speaking spanish

Tito, I know this is off topic, but I want to explain what the club does re language. The moment a foreign language speaking player arrives, he is assigned an interpreter and is put in Spanish classes, usually one on one. Some adapt very quickly like the Italians, Portuguese and Brazilians. For others it takes time, but the interpretations help ease the way particularly with coaches and teammates. We’ve seen Germans and Dutch players be very fluent in only weeks, for example Kroos. And some like Zidane actually speak like a native. But it’s always English speaking that have a difficult time, although I’ve never seen anyone as bad as Bale. My experience outside of futbol, is English speaking people struggle with any foreign language. I can’t explain it other than because English is usually adopted as the common language aka this forum, they seem to have this entitlement attitude.

So back to your post, Beckham was indeed getting help when he so early on was communicating with teammates.

The Demon of Carthage wrote:"Racism"? You do realize that you're both white, right?

This has nothing to do with racism. This is just Bill voicing his discontent and frustration with a player who was bought for a small country's GDP and delivered close to nothing in recent years.

He was certainly wrong with his English attitude comment, and you were equally wrong for resorting to name-calling. Both of you could've handled the situation a little better.

With that being said, Bale sucks.

Thanks DoC, but I don’t need your help. I know Unique fairly well. He thinks England is above all other countries and even believes some are servant to the almighty empire! He just picks his moments we’re he presents his distorted views.

And I don’t agree my English speaking comments are out of line. I think it is fact but in any event it is my opinion based upon my career experiences. And I say this whether we are talking about Americans, British or Canadian.

I could say, for certain, I don't have an entitled attitude towards foreign language. I am just not very good at French, my Spanish is decent though.

Post by The Demon of Carthage Wed Jun 05, 2019 5:02 pm

05/06/2019: Doc pledges himself to never ever speak ill of Inter again if they buy Bale.

15/07/2019: Inter buys Bale from Madrid for 25m.

22/04/2020: Inter is crowned champion of Serie A with Bale being the player of season.

01/06/2020: Inter is crowned European champion with Bale being the player of the tournament.

09/08/2020: Florentino is convinced that Bale has regained the form that he never had in the first place and signs him back from Inter for 200m.

10/08/2020: Bale tears ACL while playing minecraft with his son.

10/08/2020: Doc still remembers his pledge but he's pissed. Royally pissed.

15/05/2024: Bale is finally back in action.

15/05/2024: Doc is happy that he's back, but he's still pissed. Royally pissed.

10/04/2026: It has been a while now that Bale has been playing regularly. But he sucks. My God he sucks! He has totally lost the form he had at Inter and is now playing exactly like he used to before he left Madrid.

10/04/2026: Doc still remembers his pledge, but he's pissed. Royally pissed.

10/06/2026: Doc hasn't logged in GL for two straight months.

10/12/2026: Still no sign of Doc.

01/01/2027: Doc's body was found in his home in Trinidad. He had committed suicide in a similar fashion to Kurt Cobain. The GL family is utterly heartbroken but respects him for not breaking his pledge.

01/01/2070: Bale's grandson is signed by Madrid as a support striker to Benzema.

Mbappe def not leaving. PSG want to be on top, you can't be on top without the best players.

Unless they get Messi, they won't sell. They are too rich.

Qatari $$ is no joke, they literally have unlimited amount of $.

If I was the Qatari owner of PSG, I wouldn't even let anyone look at my top players (Neymay, Mbappe, Marquinho, Verrati) because why else did I even buy this club and invested so much $$? to win French League only?

Qatar wants $ / profit back on its investment, Mbappe and Neymar are making them lots and lots of $$.

Qatar is interested in diversifying their economy, from an oil-based into more investment-based in EU & beyond.

Nah. I was a Bayol fan back in the day but more than anything I am a football fan, I simply enjoy watching an elegant stallion. a maester at his craft, that's certainly Ser Gareth, despite being out of his prime now. Genuinely have I never encountered such disrespect towards a player as I have from Madrid fans towards Ser Gareth. I find it baffling and an injustice. Especially with the slop they have in their squad, focus on other areas rather than direct your hate towards your best player lol. Expecting 25 goals from him in all comps this season if he's given respect from Zidane and allowed to start consistently.

Can't wait to see Madrid fans praising Azar's sideways dribbles this season and then calling Ser Gareth out when he has a bad 30 minutes and forgetting the golazo's he saved them with the game before. You know it's coming.

I don't think he's ever been lazy. I can only assume his inconsistency mainly stems from the fact that he's gotten injured so much that he, at some point, developed an occasional tendency to avoid unnecessary physical contact for the sake of minimizing injury risk. Of course, the people who insist on defending him, never see those performances. There's also been periods of time in the past, particularly under Ancelotti, where he looked completely unsynchronized with the rest of the team. I don't know if that was a result of his lack of communication skills and not being able to speak Spanish, but whatever the reason, it was spectacularly frustrating to watch. He still scored clutch goals every now and then, and those goals are naturally that ones that tend to stick to peoples' memories, but they don't always make up for the frustration of how unreliable he can be. He's a double-edged sword, in that sense.

He's clearly had some good moments for us, and EPL fans don't need to remind us how decisive he's been in isolated matches, but despite his talent and capability, his fragile health has made him quite unreliable outside of those performances you (sympathizers) keep referring to - especially, whenever he's been presented with the opportunity to show his worth in CR's absence (whether it be due to CR being injured, or not being here at all), he's rarely shown that he's anywhere near as reliable as his team mate.

And that's all well and good. It's been quite a while since anyone expected him to ever compete with CR7. It's not his fault that he's injury prone, and I've honestly felt bad for him when he's only managed to stay fit for a couple of weeks or a month at a time, and looked like a half cripple once he's returned. But his aggressive demand for playing time is well established by all of the managers we've had during his time in Madrid, and it's hard to sympathize with him when he and his agent complains directly to the president that he deserves to start, despite not proving it through his sustained performances on the pitch. Needless to say, the negative body language does not help his cause either. I suppose some would argue it's justified due to how awfully he's supposedly being treated, but demonstrations like that really don't serve any positive purpose for anyone.

So in summary, I'm sure he would be appreciated more if he had stayed fit for long enough to justify being an unquestionable starter. However, he insists on being a starter regardless of his sustained performance level or lack of ability to communicate with team mates. Shows his frustration through refusing to celebrate with team mates, lashing out at opponent players (I'm not sure why this seems to go under the radar, despite how relatively often it happens), negative body language and even expressing humor when the team loses. He's often described as a shy, humble, family guy. I used to respect him for that, but he's not making things easy for himself, and it's hard to look at his collective performances and say that guy undoubtedly needs to start every time. We all know he's talented, but his situation just isn't that convenient.

Bale for Sale - Page 9 Empty Re: Bale for Sale

Post by titosantill Mon Sep 02, 2019 4:29 pm

he's inconsistent and gets injured a lot yet wants a major role on the team that's the gist of it with bale really. that notwithstanding, i said then, and i maintain now that the way zidane handled it with the bs "he can leave tomorrow" comment was unnecessary, to any player, whether it be bale mariano ramos isco or whoever. zidane let it get personal, and he is lucky bale isn't anelka or zlatan, who after scoring twice would have gone to the presser and said something like "the coach hasn't apologized to me for those comments"

i hope zidane and fans learn from that. it doesn't help your chances if you want to sell a player for some cash to make transfers, then you make the player look like a chump in the press. its marketing 101, regardless of how buyers feel about said player
