It’s a fair argument that he qualifies to be a club legend, purely based on his accomplishments. I would assume there’s more to it than that, though. He didn’t leave the club under positive circumstances, and I imagine a lot of people will remember him for his more recent antics, both on and off the field.

I don’t know how much circumstances play into the official crowning of a club legend, but I wouldn’t be quite comfortable with him being one, considering he’s been quite open about harboring some degree of resentment towards the club.

After the snub he did on Vasquez, Bale wouldn't be a club legend for the Madrid based fans. The international base would fight it down but Bale would probably not make it pass the "iconic" section.

He's really not though. Looked at transfermarkt, he takes 50% more minutes than Benzema and 100% more than Ronaldo per G+A.

My question was due to the fact that Madrid were portrayed as an essence of evil and stupidly for letting Bale go, and that the British media continue to portray him as a one of the world's top players when he hasn't been for a couple of years now. I remember the amount of crap Madrid got when Bale left, like when spurs fans flipped out because of the wording of our communicado official about Bale

I can bring peace to it now that finally EPL fans finally see Bale for what he has been since the 2018 UCL final and that's a glorified bench warmer. I remember that tweet DoC posted of that spurs fans saying they've sign the 3rd best player in the world

I dont hate Bale and highly regard his clutch moments (I still wouldn't call him legend) but he bought all of this upon himself. Blame Zidane all you want but the man won la liga without Bale and with Benzema ( the least popular of the greatest trio BBC) leading the teams offense. He had all the reason to bench Bale.
